Brand: Zeagle
Located in: Essential Equipment, Buoyancy Compensators
The Scout represents an exceptional value in a lightweight system. It has a low profile single bladder with an elastic retractor, and a elastic waist closure.

The weight system consists of two rear mounted pockets with a touch fastener release and a 20-LB maximum total weight capacity.

The Scout is Zeagle's lightest and most compact BC, and is ideal or a basic travel system with minimum weight and bulk.

Comments about Zeagle Zeagle Scout BC:

Owned it for almost a year, been using it mostly for shallow (4-123m) coral surveys tropical Indonesia (20-40 hrs). Thanks to its D-rings and low profile design allows more mobility of my hand using several survey equipments. Once had a roll meters, a digital camera, a hammer, nylon strings roll , a slate I all were attached in my BCD !!. Well-balanced distribution in buoyancy not mentioning my first time experiences with a single-bladder BC. Another thing, it is reasonably light and could be stowed inside my suitcase quite neatly several of my travels.

Comments about Zeagle Zeagle Scout BC:

Great BCD for any use. I bought it because it was light and easily packed for travel. It still has a ton of features, including D-rings, pockets, and integrated weights. I actually like having all my weight in the back because it frees up the front for pockets for accessories. Trim and balance are not an issue.

Also, the materials used are top notch. Although I have only taken it on a few dives, I see this one lasting a while, even diving 6-7 days a week as a divemaster.

Comments about Zeagle Zeagle Scout BC:

After 20 years of renting BCs at dive resorts (still nothing wrong with this at all) we decided to purchase BCs before a 2 weeks dive vacation. Craftsmanship of Zeagle Scout is superb. This is not weight integrated BC, but it has two weight pockets on the back with release feature. These pockets are totally useless, except they make the BC heavier, more expensive and bulky. Sliding BC on the tank more difficult with these weihgt pockets on. I removed them from mine but left them on my wife's. The cargo pockets are so small and so far back that they are basicaly useless. I managed to keep a small dive light there but getting it in under water is not easy. Despite all this, this is a very good product.

Probably the best entry level BC

Comments about Zeagle Zeagle Scout BC:

I am a dive instructor and the cost of these BCs and the pros I listed above makes this a great entry level BC. No joke. If you are an experienced diver and dive lots of wrecks or dive deep, this may not be the rig for you but if you are just getting started, it doesn't get any better. I stocked my entire rental line with these BCs...10 in all.

Comments about Zeagle Zeagle Scout BC:

Great well constructed BC. Works great, especially with the optional inflator/second stage. No complaints, but it would be nice if the pockets were a little bigger. Also be forewarned if you need a lot of weight this BC might not be for you. Definitely a great value for the money!

Comments about Zeagle Zeagle Scout BC:

This is a very good travel BC but could benefit with the use of weight pockets on either side of the waist panels. The rear weight pockets are rated at 10lbs each, but are really only good for trim weight and I find it necessary to also use a weight belt in order to attain perfect balance. This is not a problem, I've just become used to using the fully integrated weight system on my Zeagle Ranger. I bought this BC so I could travel lightly and it is perfect for recreational diving in warm water destinations. For the price it is well worth it and I would buy it again.

Service & Delivery comments:

I've been buying gear from LeisurePro for years and have never had a problem with delivery. The gear is always packaged properly and has never arrived damaged. In terms of delivery service you get what you pay for. I recommend using UPS Worldwide Express for any shipments into Canada since the brokerage fees are normally built into the cost.

Comments about Zeagle Zeagle Scout BC:

Fits great, works wonders.
has all the right features that you need, none of the features that you don't.

-back inflate that works very well, great control. among the best back inflate that I've used.

-rear weight pouches for moving some weight off the belt to BC. what could be better? this is major when cold water diving. weight was wonderful and I was very well balanced. weight integration is the way to go

do yourself a favor and get this one for travel. I can fit this BC, a mask and my regs in my carry on luggage. the rest gets checked and won't ruin my trip if lost.

A good first BCD
By Elasmobranch whispererVerified Reviewer from Honolulu, HI on 7/19/2008

Comfortable, Durable, Lightweight
Cons:
Hard To Adjust, Hard to find dump valves
Best Uses:
Recreation, Warm Water
Describe Yourself:
Recreational Diver
Diving Type:
Open Water Diving
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Zeagle Zeagle Scout BC:

Overall this BCD is lightweight and easy to dive with. The dump valves on the back are sometimes tricky to find quickly. The tank straps aren't that adjustable, the top strap can't really be moved to another postition, thus the tank sits a little high and the first stage can hit the back of your head sometimes. Not many pockets, just two, and they are set a little to far back for my likeing, but I solved this problem buy getting the zeagle sport utility pocket. It easlily connects to the bcd.
It's a really well made BCD and I especially love that you can disconect the inflator and hook a hose up to the bcd to flush the bladder. Even though it isn't weight intergrated the trim pouches on the back make things easier. I bought zeagles diver utility kit and it easily fits on my shoulder strap, giving me quick access to my knife and scissors.
As a first BCD this was a good choice, plus the price can't be beat, the lowest on the web that I found and I looked almost everywhere.

The weight system puts diver in a "chest up" postition in water. My fiance' only dives 8 lbs w/alum tank & we had to remove what I consider to only be trim weight pouches. She has to dive a weight belt now..Sucks! Will be buying different bc asap!

Comments about Zeagle Zeagle Scout BC:

I bought this BC because of it's price and the recommendation it came with from my instructor. It doesn't have a ton of bells and whistles, but I don't need any. It's perfect for me. Maybe a dozen dives a year ranging from Quarry to Miami to Mid Atlantic Ocean. I've had no problems and it fits comfortably. I felt like it was the best value.

Comments about Zeagle Zeagle Scout BC:

Been using a heavy duty Dive Rite for years. Wanted a good travel BC - light weight. It's heavier built than I expected, which is not a bad thing. Lots of flexibility for adjusting waist belts and straps. Has all the D rings, pouches you could want. This is an outstanding minimalist BC if you can handle a back inflater.

Ordered it Wed afternoon, it arrived Friday morning.

Comments about Zeagle Zeagle Scout BC:

I use the scout BCD for all the diving I do. Cold water (64 F) warm , Traveling. This Scout is bulky. Don't know if I will travel with this one. Because of weight and size. I like the pockets for gloves.

Comments about Zeagle Zeagle Scout BC:

Not a bad bc per se, however since it only has trim weights in the back it is tricky to get a good leveling in the water. Also it is not very easy to ditch the weights since they are further up on the back than a dump valve. my 2 cents.
