The TORTUGA-Sherwood's newest BC blends the stability of a jacket style with the comfort of back inflation. The TORTUGA'S primary weights utilize Sherwood's redesigned CQR2 weight system into the jacket. The best of both worlds! Maximize utility and convenience. This new BC features a back mounted air cell to leave the chest area openfor freedom of movement, but also provides some wrap around buoyancy for added lift and vertical stability.

Patented CQR2 Weight System is standard plus two rear pockets for up to 10 pounds of non-releasing trim weights.

So this jacket is very comfortable, fits like a glove. However I feel that this jacket has its issues with its inflater and dump valves.
I just came back from 25 dives in Bonaire with this BCD, the good its very comfortable, the bad, there isn't a handle to pick up the jacket with the tank installed, the ugly, it feels up with water which I have to dump out after every dive, sounds like a percolator when filling it with air underwater. It seems that the dump valve does not seal properly and fills the jacket with water during the dive, this could be just my jacket, but it could be all of them. For the price I could have bought something better.

Good BC over all. Gets a 4 due to the non releasable weight pockets. Why would they design them behind the back plate and not on the outside where they belong? Bad move on Sherwoods part. Non releasable weight positions are really un-comfortable when BC is inflated.Bought this BC last year.

First time with a Sherwood. Got it as a package and am very pleased with the BCD. I took one size smaller based on my experiences with other units and it worked out great. I am 230lbs and 6' tall with a 46 jacket fitting. I selected a L. It works great!

I have used this BC on Night Dives and items are easy to find and remove from clips and rings. I've traveled with it and it packs nice. I've drift dived, shipwrecked dived, Cenote dived, Cavern dived and the BC performed top notch. The zippers are large and durable. The integrated weights are easy to use. The rear lift is not too overbearing. I know a lot of divers do not use Sherwood BC's, but they should. I would buy one again.

The most comfortable BCD I've experienced todate. Features well thoughtout before its manufacture. All adjustments easily made while using.

Service & Delivery comments:

When I called Leisure Pro to buy a BCD the person I talk to suggested this one. Its what he uses. I now understand why it's his preference. My dive buddy has since purchased one too!

The beauty of rear & vest inflation provide easy buoyancy control on & beneath the surface. Cruising & trimming with this system is a breeze. There is a metal plate in the back which provides a very sturdy feel but the soft collar & cumberbun waist belt makes this a very comfortable unit. It's also a very streamlined bcd with an integrated weight system that works great. The heaviness allows the diver to use less weight which is always a good thing.

Great BC. Very comfortable and functional. If you like the feel of a back inflated bc but would like a little more surface stability without having the life squeezed out of you every time you inflate, this is a great option.
