If you are looking to invest in your first BCD, then you should strongly consider the Sherwood Silhouette. There are many options out there, including some great used equipment, but there's nothing quite like owning a new piece of gear since you'll have a history of its' use (and abuse in the case of some used rental gear!) There's only one large velcro pocket, but the BC has two conveniently located Quik-Clip buckles and two nice bottom D rings. YOU SHOULD ABSOLUTELY GET THE OPTIONAL STERNUM STRAP. PERIOD. It will make you feel much more secure in the BC. You may have to source the sternum strap through your local dive shop. The unit is lightweight and extraordinarily comfortable. It performs as well, if not better, than some of the higher priced models I've tested. In the end, if you want a top-quality BC that won't break the bank, the Sherwood Silhouette deserves a spot at the top of your list.

I bought my las Sherwood Silhouette in LI back in 1989. It has lasted perfectly for the past 18 years,.. It still runs very well but I thought it deserved to be changed by a new one: same brand, same model. What else can I say,..!!
