Comments about Mares Mares Pegasus BCD with MRS Plus Weight Pockets, Black:
I just came back from 9 dives on the Riviera Maya and tested the BCD thoroughly in caverns and at night. Had to get used to back inflation -definitely pushes you face forward on the surface unless you add two/three pounds on the bottle strap. It rides up if you don't use the crotch strap but if you use it, it's uncomfortable -on the surface. Once horizontal underwater, it's pretty stable and you don't feel the vest. Had to wiggle forward and backward to deflate upper and lower deflation valves on all dives, though. I am not to sure if back-inflation is for me...
Delivery of product was prompt and in great condition, as always from Leisurepro.
Customer service was helpful and courteous in exchanging the size of the BCD. Good job!!
Comments about Mares Mares Pegasus BCD with MRS Plus Weight Pockets, Black:
Dove 16 times with this BC with a 3 mil wetsuit and found it comfortable and easy to adjust. Integrated weight system is easy to use, did not shift and seemed secure in the pockets. The back inflated bladder is quite large but does allow for a great open feel in the chest area. I did find it took some effort to empty all the air while diving and since I typically dive with an empty BC this was a bit of an annoyance. Back inflation does tend to put your face toward the water but even on a longer surface swim in choppy water this wasn't too much trouble.
Overall I am happy with the Mares Pegasus and enjoyed diving with it.
Comments about Mares Mares Pegasus BCD with MRS Plus Weight Pockets, Black:
This BCD is very easy to wear, very streamlined and stable. Bouyancy control is great. I used it the first time is Roatan in July and was delighted with it, I've been diving for 28 years and this is my first back inflation BCD, will never use anything else. Less is better under water and this configuracion makes you feel free of clutter. It feels like you're not using a BCD at all. I have since used it in the Pacific Ocean in Nicaragua where conditions are rather harsh and I was glad to be wearing this minimalistic Pegasus. I gives you confidence. I had never used crotch straps before but I find them very usefull, you don't have to worry about this BCD riding up; I had that problem with my previous jacket. Overall this is a superb minimalistic BCD. It's also very easy to walk on the boat with, stable even out of the water, the fit is great.

Comments about Mares Mares Pegasus BCD with MRS Plus Weight Pockets, Black:
Tried this BC with a dry suit and it does ride up. I would suggest to always use a crotch strap when diving with it. The velcro pocket, while nice that it is an option, still hangs low, if you happen to dive close to the bottom it will drag, depending on what you have in there. It doesn't dump air very quickly. It does have lots of hooks to attach things to and a very nice tank strap. So far seems to be a good deal for the price, however without a crotch strap it would be very uncomfortable.

Comments about Mares Mares Pegasus BCD with MRS Plus Weight Pockets, Black:
This was Scubadiving magazines overall favorite BC in 2008 and I can understand why. I had a chance to use it in Roatan last week and was very pleased. It took me a couple of dives to get used to the back inflate BC as I'm used to jacket style. But once dialed in this BC is very stable and comfortable.
Its the easiest bc Ive seen to set up with a tank. With the single tank strap and plastic backplate the tank is locked in. Put the grip handle over the valve and the bc is set at the perfect hight. Just drop it on and lock the strap. I prefer not to have the cumberbun as it makes it easier to don the bc and to breathe.
Underwater its very easy to keep proper trim, no need for ballast weights. Once you get the proper weight bouyancy control is effortless!
It does take a little more effort to get verticle than jacket style bc. But I always keep my mask and regulator on until I'm in the boat so not much of an issue for me.
This is a great no nonsense bc and for the price cannot be beat. Oh yeah I can also pack this flat in my carry on bag:)

Comments about Mares Mares Pegasus BCD with MRS Plus Weight Pockets, Black:
ATTENTION BIG DIVERS: This BCD will accommodate comfortably most divers that usually are in need of an XXL BCD - maybe it is the more important info regarding this BCD! I am 5'10" and 280 pounds and there was plenty room for a good size bigger and higher. Look at the size chart; it does not give the upper numbers for the XL and with good reason. The BCD doesn't have a cummerbund and the waistband goes big and wide. The upper band can be adjusted according to height as well as size [it is movable]. While not the smallest of travel BCD's, it is relatively small for an XXL.
And now to general review: Before you buy, you need to decide whether back inflated, weight integrated is what you want. There are many pro's and con's to the above and this is not the place for the discussion. The Pegasus has all you need within its group [unless you are one of those divers that need lots of pockets - god knows why...]. For myself, I prefer a comfi, no-frills, adjustable BCD - and the Pegasus is just that - a good all around solution.
Whatever you do, it will be a struggle to keep yourself comfortably balanced on top of the water with this BCD, but it is a small price to pay - try using the trim pockets on the tank belt.
I agree with the comment that the expert advice [ask the pro] is inaccurate and I had the same experience with the question I have asked - not so Pro the "pro"!
My Bottom line: I DO NOT like weight integrated BCD's! but if you want one the Pegasus is excellent value for your money and I can not think of any reason to buy a more expensive one.

Comments about Mares Mares Pegasus BCD with MRS Plus Weight Pockets, Black:
This is my first BCD purchase. I heard that back inflates can be a little tough as they tend to push your face into water and yes I have experienced it and its not as bad as some might describe here. My issues is deflation when you need it. My latest dive with it I was having a hard time dumping air to dive and I had to constantly adjust the inflation/deflation to get good neutral buoyancy. Also the MRS weights are tough to get into place with gloves on if your not lined up correctly then good luck. As far as the comfort during my dive I don't feel that I'm wearing one other than my inflation issues not much clutter up front and moving around is effortless tough to open side pocket with the velcro but all and all I like my Pegasus.
Comments about Mares Mares Pegasus BCD with MRS Plus Weight Pockets, Black:
It does tend to put you "face forward" on the surface. I use 24lbs of weight. I'm still not sure how to use the extra weight pockets that come with the BC. The manual doesn't cover their attachment. The rear inflation give you a much better fit.
Comments about Mares Mares Pegasus BCD with MRS Plus Weight Pockets, Black:
not sure about the weight of integrated BC. Its a heavy load all at one time. Also most of the weight is forward. Seperate weight belt (weights distributed around waist) makes putting everything on a little easier. That said i plan on trying again next weekend so maybe I'll get used to it.

I BOUGHT THIS BCD A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO...I´VE DONE MY DIVEMASTER COURSE WITH IT...TOO COMFORTABLE...IT HAS ALL THAT YOU NEED
Comments about Mares Mares Pegasus BCD with MRS Plus Weight Pockets, Black:
I just used this BC on a trip to Belize. Fantastic! The integrated weights are a nice feature. I would recommend you use the included tank weight straps or you will be struggling to stay vertical at the surface.

Generally a nice product. Its very stable under water, and very comfortable. However, I bought the L which just fits me length wise, but is very large around the waist. The M wouldn't have fit lengthwise but been better around the waist. Also none of the straps remain tight once fastened. I think its because of the design of the plastic fastening clips.

Comments about Mares Mares Pegasus BCD with MRS Plus Weight Pockets, Black:
the info in the ask the pro section on this pegasus bc is inaccurate, there are no zippered pocket and there are 2 attachable trim weight pockets. it has 1 large pocket that unrolls & hangs down below bc & is helt rolled up when not in use by velcro..had to attach trim weight pockets to tank strap w 10 lb.of weights out of a total of 18 lbs.if all weight is put in mrs pockets bc keep me face down on surface..i dove 6 days, bc was new on first day i had trouble with zipper on one of the mrs weight pockets.. on day 6 pocket would not zip shut, had to use duck tape to wrap it shut, zippers on mrs pockets are sub standard i will send that pocket back for warranty replacement..with that said, bc operates great and is very comfortable..
Comments about Mares Mares Pegasus BCD with MRS Plus Weight Pockets, Black:
overall, it worked very well. many people complain that back-inflate BC's tend to push you face-first into the water, but i never experienced that problem. i was apprehensive about the parachute-style straps replacing the cummerbund at first, but now i prefer them over the cummberbund, because they help keep the BC from riding up on you when it has air in it.
the only odd thing about the BC is that the side non-releasable weight pockets come separate and they don't include instructions on how to properly attach, but unless you are cold-water diving you shouldn't really need them.
