I use the harness without backplate or BCD for drysuit diving from a kayak. It is very easy to get on and off in the water. The light weight yet sturdy pack is very comfortable. I like the lumbar pad and the many D-rings for attaching auxillary gear. I tried the OMS harness first, and it was terrible as a soft pack. It also required many add-ons that come standard with the Hollis HTS.

Comments about Hollis Gear Hollis, HTS Harness Technical System:
I just got back from Key West and Central Florida where I finally got to use the HTS. It performed great. Mine is set up with the QLR weight pockets and the 38 lbs. wing. I am also using a single tank adapter and an aluminum backplate. I would prefer a steel backplate but for traveling, lighter is better. The HTS fits me well, seems well made, and is easily adjustable. I added the Atomic SS1 to the wing, which works great. Some people love them, some hate them, I like to minimize hoses when I travel. The HTS has plenty of stainless d-rings for whatever you need to clip on. The only thing I was not completely happy with was the explanation of what additional equipment was needed. I originally ordered the HTS, the weight pockets, and the single tank adapter with stainless straps.[...] the HTS sat in the package waiting (I couldn't dive for other reasons anyway).[...]. They came and I went to set up the HTS. I was unaware that there are two different versions of the S wing out there, the new and the old. I had an old, which requires a backplate when using the single tank adapter. So, I had to order the backplate.[...]. It all worked out in the end. If you are considering the HTS, call LP and ask them what you will need to make it complete with what you want. I would definitely buy this again. In fact, I am currently in the process of losing weight. If I get to the point that the XL no longer fits me, I will definitely buy the same thing in a size L.
