Brand: Cressi
Located in: Essential Equipment, Buoyancy Compensators
In Cressi's new AERO range, the Back Jac is Cressi's Back Inflation Wing model that offers maximum buoyancy in a back inflation buoyancy compensator. The ergonomic design of the harness and the elastic retractor bands surrounding the air cell keep the BCD's profile low and compact making the diver hydrodynamic when fining. Whether on a reef, wreck, or cavern penetration dive this BCD will deliver streamline buoyancy for the most demanding diver.

The BCD is equipped with two large zippered concealed accessory pockets for storage of your back-up light or small digital camera. Pockets supply more room then on other BCD's that can barely hold your dive gloves. These pockets can be kept concealed when not in use further streamlining your profile and avoiding snagging on the reef, wreck or in a cave. The integrated Lock Aid quick-release weight system hold up to 20 lbs (9 kg), 10 lbs (4.5 kg) in each pocket with two rear non-releasable weight trim pockets help increase stability in the water.

The back support is rigid for proper cylinder stability, but is fully padded forcomfort. The two-piece elastic waistband/cummerbund harness assembly is an independent suspension system that allows the cylinder and the diver to keep proper stability and avoid cylinder shifting on the back, while allowing the BCD's air cell to fully inflate away from the diver not causing restriction or crushing effect as with non-ergonomic designs. Adjustable sternum straps along with both torso adjustment straps are equipped with quick-release buckles.

The BCD has three over-pressure relief/dump valves with two located on the left and right shoulders and a third lower valve on the rear right of the air cell. All three can be manually dumped two with pull cords and the other with the power inflator mechanism. There are four stainless steel D-rings with two on theshoulder straps, two on the bottom of the BCD and two techno-polymer D-rings on the pocket lobes for attachment of instruments and accessories. The Back Jac also comes equipped with a ridged and soft nylon adjustable carry handles.

Comments about Cressi Cressi Back Jac BCD:

This is a well made and comfortable BC. Have been using it for 50 dives (cold and warm water) and I really like it. Weighted correctly it gives a nice horizontal swimming position. One issue is that the weight pockets become pliable once in the water - sometimes they protrude a lot during a dive. A couple of times the weight pockets actually slipped out and dangled by the locking mechanism.

Comments about Cressi Cressi Back Jac BCD:

Great BCD.

Very comfortable under water. At first I found myself pushed forward while at the surface, but putting 2/3 of the weights in the rear pockets balanced the flotation, as that's where all of the buoyancy is! The other 1/3 I put in the front 'eject-able' pockets.

Fits well in the suitcase for travel - When deflated it is fairly compact.

Comments about Cressi Cressi Back Jac BCD:

I'm a novice, this is my first BCD. All the rentals I used up until this had been jacket-types. I was a bit worried about the conversion to back inflation having heard the stories that it takes some getting used to and pushes you face down on the surface. The only difference I noticed was I sit a little lower on the surface. Otherwise I found this product on a completely different level to any other BCD I have tried. Fits like a glove, extrememly comfortable, and more streamlined. I have noticed is that I need a little more weight due to the increased bouyancy of the device. I am extremely happy with it.

Awsome BC, Best Thing To Hit The Market
By ScubaFirefighterVerified Reviewer from Dunbar West Virginia, USA on 5/14/2008
Pros:

Cons:
Because of Padding, Really Bouyant
Best Uses:
Extreme Depths, Professional, Recreation
Describe Yourself:
Divemaster
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Cressi Cressi Back Jac BCD:

This BC is for everyone, Plenty of Stainless D-Rings. Great Lift. Only 2 problems, BC is very bouyant because of padding, but you have to sacrifice for comfort. And the other is the weight pockets get in the way when teaching regulator recovery in class. This unit is made of top of the line material, and great craftsmanship.

Comments about Cressi Cressi Back Jac BCD:

The Bak Jak is a tough, well designed back inflation BC. If you don't like back inflation then obviously the bak jak wouldn't be for you. Although, those who enjoy the freedom and comfort of a back inflation design are sure to be pleased with the bak jak.
