I bought my Seaquest black diamond over fifteen years ago. It has been at most of my dives. I am a dive instructor and I use the BC when teaching my students. It is by far the easiest to doff and don and has loads of extras. I also use the BC in search and recovery diving in all sorts of water ways in my state. As a law enforcement diver I have put this BC through Hades. It has been covered in gasoline, avgas, oil and other viscous fluids from vehicles recovered from these waterways. I highly recommend this BC and am planning on buying a new one this year.

I have owned this BCD for a number of years now and it is just AWESOME. It has great features and easily modified for various types of diving. Lots of clips, sturdy D rings to carry or add more gear. I am currently looking into purchasing another one to keep my current one as a back up unit.

Great BC. Have had for 2 years and almost 200 dives. Never had a problem. Recommend airsource for streamlining. Don't even feel the BC is there. Extremely comfortable and full of lots of rings-- useful for storing all accessories.

Only con-- Bulky for travel, especially with new weight restrictions. Tends to take up more space in your bag, but definitely worth this small hassle.

I've had this BC for two years and love it. I've had it in cold water, tropical and caves. Heavy material without being coarse; lots of D-rings; adjustable many ways. Buddies have commented on how I seem to magically sail over reefs with a couple inches of clearance, but to be honest, that is the way a back-inflation BCD works. Super-comfortable and hard-core durable. I honestly can't fault this unit.

I bought the Black Diamond eight years ago, on the recommendation that it would probably be the only BC I would ever need as a recreational diver. So far, that's proven to be true. I find the unit to be comfortable, with quality materials and workmanship. It's served me well in both the cold waters of Puget Sound, as well as in the tropics.

If this one ever wears out, I hope that Seaquest is still producing them.

This is a great BC. It has an adjustable midsection strap that comes in very hand. I have a V type torso and it allows the straps to be wide to fit my shoulders and I can norrow the waste to make for a perfect fit. There are pleanty of D rings and pockets for everything you'll need. It is definitely worth the money!

This is a great BC, up here we dive a lot of rivers, and this BC can take a hard knock and still perform, I recommend using this with an air source for rivers to prevent free flow! Check out all the metal D rings, good for add ons

Very nice back inflation BCD, it has 3 pockets, has a gromet for Wenoka knifes right in front of the waistband.

This is a good system if you are not looking for technical diving.

I bought this BC when I was working in the Florida Keys as a divemaster this summer. At first I didn't like it becuase it was uncomfortable. The reason for this was due to the fact that I wasn't wearing a wetsuit or even a rash guard while I was there. Upon my reture home to Hawaii and diving in a wetsuit the BC is amazing; I almost don't even know its there. Be sure to put a couple pounds in the non-dump weight pockets so you will be perfectly vertical on the surface and just the right position at depth. The gromets for attaching a Wenoka knife are far to side and do make returning the knife to the sheath a tricky task, but you get used to it. All in all, I am more than happy I choose this BC.

A great BCD. Integrated weight system works well. Lots of D-rings. Comfortable to wear and adjustable to your build. Material seems very durable, I expect this BCD will last a long time.

I bought this BCD in 1995 and used to use it at least twice a week (weather permitting) for 5 years.
stored for 2 years then in full use again up untill now.
Its great for less drag underwater and it hugs your tank instead of a bulky chest.i put 2 lbs in each of the small back shoulder pockets and the rest in the front.
it is so comfortable,padded straps and back plate thick material and well designed.
its good for looking down at your chest to reach for anything you have hooked on to your BCD (tools). And it worked great when i did my water rescue, (open chest space).
after 13 years of use there are no ware and tare marks on this BCD.
always half fill the bladder with fresh water and shake and empty after every dive,maybe that's why its lasted so long.Cold water quarry diving in England in winter,cave diving in Ibiza,Spain and doing dive supervisor chores (long days) in s.fla.
And i have never put it in for a service because nothing wore down.Hence the lifetime warranty.

I really like this bc. It fits well and it is very comfortable. Here is a sizing tip. I am 6'5" and 210 lbs with a 32" waist. I though I would need an XL, but instead the Large fit me best. I added the airsource 3 and am very happy with it. The only nefative I can think of is that after mounting the wenoka squeeze lock knife to the prepared place for it, the knife sits far around my side so I can't see it. That makes returning the knife to the sheath a little tricky. I would hate to miss the sheath and stab my black diamond, or myself. I guess I could mount it somewhere else, but I wanted to use the provided mounting system that came on the bc. Other than that minor drawback I would give this bc and outstanding rating.

Standard wing/back floatation issue while at the surface, less problem for some than others. Due to very narrow air passage at top of bladder, once air volume increases on one side of the BC, presents a tough time to equalize, in comparion for example to the a BC which has a larger air passage at the top.

Great BC, I went from a Seaquest Balance which is a cheaper weight integrated BC to the Black Diamond. This BC has a great weight integration system as well as all of the goodies you want in a BC. There are a bunch of D rings everywhere to connect all of your goodies, pockets everywhere, and the back inflation is great. The only thing that I don't care for and that may be with back inflation not the BC is that I have to lean back to dump the air in the BC, even if I pull the dump valves. I don't think of this a negative thing just something you have to get used to.

Most features work extremly well the only con is the way the cord is set up on the lower rear dump valves it is not condusive to get the feel of how much gas you are letting out compared to other BCD's I've had.

All and all I love it. I do have one big complaint. There needs to be more room in the back for weight. Most of the weight is in front. This causes your face to be pushed into the water when your surface floating. The only way I can surface float is to fill it 100% with air, arch beck as far as I can and stay motionless. You can't comfortably bob around visiting as all your attention is spent keeping your face up.

I use my black diamond as a recreational bcd and a sport bcd .I enjoy the ease of use and the way it trims out .It is comfortable under water and gives you the freedom most jacket bcds dont give.I like how it has all the d rings and the lift capacity.Great bcd all round!!

I've had mine for about 8 years, therefore it is old model that used velcro, design has been changed on newer models, but I have replaced weight pockets a couple of times.
I tried on every back inflate bc on the market at the time and this was by far more comfortable then all the rest. It seems to be a little longer then others and too me makes it more comfortable.

This is the best BC! lost count of dives i did with mine, if i put it on [@] right now i would be able to sell it like a brand new! Mine is an XL and ever since i got it i lost 50 pounds, no problem! adjust here and there and you good to go. You will have people asking you to try it on! Also can be used for Tech dives.

This is a great B.C. and I have no complaints. I have used it for six years. I'm an instructor and also a police diver so it has been in some very demanding situations and it has never had a problem. It is more suited for colder waters because of the lift but I have used it in waters as warm as 82 degrees and as cold as 42 degrees.

This truly is an effortless BCD!! Adjust it once or twice underwater and you really dont need to mess with it anymore. Plenty of pocket space and D-rings for storage. Very tough built. I love mine!!

This BCD is amazingly comfortable yet is built to last. Dive once with a Black Diamond and you'll have to have one. Well equiped with stainless rings and swivel straps that make it easy to get on and off both above and under water. Also, there are plenty of accessories available.

This BCD is a beautifully crafted peice of equipment. Above the water it is almost effortless to adjust and to fit but its when your under the water this BCD truely comes into a world of its own. The rear inflation bladder makes for effortless bouyance under the water and the open design harness gives you unreal movement its just like your not even wearing a BCD at all. I highly recommend this BCD for anyone who wishes to enjoy a great diving experience with a BCD that just does not feel uncomfortable in any way and does not get in the way.
