I bought the 2lb version. I pound it with a hammer repeatedly and the weight will not release from the mold. I melted the lead and tried again and still the lead will not come out. This mold needs to be made better.

The block weight molds are excellent! Easy to use. I made weights for my entire family. Making the weights only cost a fraction of what it would take to buy the weights at retail prices. I poured 12 weights that were 4 pounds each and they came out perfect every time! I just melted the lead using my burner from the turkey fryer and an old iron skillet that I will never use again since I melted the lead in it, but I was surprised at how easy it was to melt the lead without having to buy any extra tools.

I work in the construction department at a hospital where we use lead lined drywall and scrap lead is readily available. This mold was just right for me and worked very well. I made 24# of weights In about an hour and a half for the cost of the mold. It's easy to use and the weights pop out with a few taps on a hard surface after the lead has cooled. Just be safe. If you've never worked with molten lead, do your safety research.

Should have a smoother inside surface so the lead weight will release easier. Rough surface finish grips the finished product making release difficult.
