SUUNTO Dive Manager 3.0 locks up and will not process data.
It WILL connect and download from my cobra II dive comp but when displaying the dive profile or "play" it the thing locks up and throws 10,000,000,000 error messages with "click OK" one after another. Utterly USLESS PRODUCT, but I can't return it because I've loaded the software. BUYER BEWARE!!!

I used this on the laptop with WinXP while traveling and on the MAC at home. Includes Suunto Dive Manager and drivers for the XP machines, had to load the drivers for the MAC

the disk does not come with with it as the picture shows but software easily downloaded from other sites and cable works fine even with Gekko if you are inclined to do a minor tech search

What can I say? It connected our Cobra 2's without any problems on a Vista 64-bit machine, which is sometimes troublesome with small volume software like this. It worked exactly as it was supposed to and I connected and updated both systems in a matter of minutes.

I had already downloaded the latest version of the software online so I did not think that I needed to bother with the CD. But after plugging in the USB connection to the computer, I found out that I needed to install the drivers on the CD.

In downloading from the dive computer, be sure to switch to the COM port to the USB.

I have a Cobra and a Mosquito (back-up); the connector fit to both is insecure and required a two hand hold to work until I rigged a base with some urethane rubber and a pair of rubber bands, something you shouldn't need to go around inventing.

The software is buggy and at best gives a hit and miss connection. In almost 60% of instances, it fails to recognize the dive-computer at first try; then, it appears to compete for the same USB port with my Palm organizer "Hotsync". Sometimes it forces me to reboot the host computer to get a viable connection. If you add USB peripherals that might sequester the defined port, you'll have to undergo an involved and undocummented procedure. The software documentation is next to nil.

On the other hand, the logbook is fairly decent with customizable fields, and it admits a number of different users with separate logbooks.

To finish, this should be a freebie included with the computers, it's too ill designed to be sold as an extra.

It's always a hit or miss as to whether or not I'll be able to download my dives. I have not been able to download my dives in nine months and am about to buy something else for dive logging. When it works, it provides great information but it's not reliable enough. I like the mosquito but the connection for downloading is terrible.

If you like the idea of having a copy of your dive log on your PC to review & annotate, the Suunto Dive Manager & PC connection are great products. All in all, they worked as advertised & are great additions to your dive gear.

I did have a little trouble initially getting connected to my Suunto Cobra dive computer , but that was my fault because I didn't realize that the Cobra needed to be in "data" mode before it would react to the PC connection. I guess I was expecting a USB "plug and play" connection.

Anyway, once I had the Cobra in the right mode, the PC connection immediately recognized it & stepped me through the process of transferring the dive log to the PC. The connection wasn't particularly speedy, but unless you do hundreds of dives, you won't be doing it all that often anway.

After I had the log transferred, the Suunto Dive Manager UI was very friendly & efficient. I spent a few hours reviewing my dives, adding gear items, & annotating each dive with my own information. It can actually become somewhat addicting if you're a detail-oriented person like I am.

All in all, the Suunto Dive Manager & PC Connection worked as advertised & can be great additions to your dive gear if you're the type of person who likes having a copy of your dive log on your PC (mine is a Dell Dimension 8400 running Windows XP SP2).

I tried another interface via a purchase through an online 'Auction'/'Buy It Now' site (because this is no cheap cable) and it did not work. Luckly I received a refund and made another attempt via you since you are the ones I purchased my Cobra 2 from in the first place. To my relieve, it worked and data transfered except for a brief moment when "No Devise Found" popped up, but corrected with slight movement of the connection. I still have a lot to learn about the program, but it looks great so far. I have had a long discussion with Suunto regarding the design of the connection (in my attempt to get my first interface to work) and wish they would improve on it. It is working now, but I can see it wearing out and so great care should be taken with hooking and unhooking the interface. So, basically, it provides great info when it works, but I feel the connection could be designed better and would consider it a draw back for the Cobra 2 for which I got the interface for, especially at a price of over [$]. I am curious to see if it last longer that I expect it to - I hope so. But until I use it for awhile, I can not recommend this to a friend at this time unless they really did not care about looking at the info on a PC - I would, otherwise, definately recommend the Cobra 2. I really like it so far, although I'm just a beginner.

Data info is good.Instructions could be better. Does not attach as well to a Mosquito as the Vyper. Fustrating to start downloading from Mosquito. No problems with the Vyper downloading.

Secure, hands-free connection to my Suunto Vyper. Designed by and for Suunto, so it fit perfectly. Easier to connect and easier to keep connected than the DIY cable connector I had been using. Recommended! Be sure to download the lastest software, free, from Suunto's website.

This product DOES work. However, I often had to disconnect and start the download process over more than once to get it to work. Others I have tried did not work at all. So given the choices, this is best.

I had to return the cable once because it did not work. To determine it did not work, I had to install and reinstall about 6 times and it was very frustrating. With the replacement cable, it is still a challenge to connect the Mosquito to the computer as you have to delicately hold the Mosquito while performing the connection in the exact right combination of steps. I have figured out how to make it work now and once the dives are uploaded, it is pretty cool and a helpful dive log. Love the Mosquito but hate the interface.

Decent product to help keep a detailed computer log book. It charts your dives. You can add additional information and once you upload the information.

Not the most user friendly software, but in all honestly once you work with it a little it's not really complicated.

Overall it's a pretty good system, there are a few things I'd like to see improved, particularly how it groups dives but once you know how to use it it'll do what you want/need fairly well.

Cable very poorly designed and loose contact with the Cobra and Cobra 2 units.

The USB connection works slower with the bundled SDM software v2.3 than the old 1.6. Beware that data imports from previous version of 1.xx may be buggy and incomplete. If this the case, use v2.13 (available on suunto.com) for data imports prior to upgrading to the provided v2.3.

SDM v2.3 still has a few bugs but looks and feels better than v1.xx. It's not very intuitively built and can easily cause frustrations to the less computer savvy person at first.

Without this download kit the Suunto dive computer is simply not complete. The price is high and you probably can build one yourself (search the Internet), but once you have bought it, you will not regret it. It is simple to use and you get far more information out of your dive than you get through the dive computer display.
