We never want to have an emergency when diving, but it could happen. A safety conscious diver will carry a Surface Marker Buoy specially designed for what we all never want happening an emergency. OMS offers flotation units with manual dump valves and unique"non-air spill" openings that prevent your SMB from dumping air or taking on water when it hits the surface. All SMB's have a point of attachment for a slate.

This SMB is well-constructed, built to last (mine has lasted 5 years, 60+ dives) and still looks brand new even after a few deployments. It inflates, holds air well and does not bend on the surface, even with it is windy. It is quick dry and rolls up to fit in my BCD pocket. You'll need a pouch if you don't have a BCD pocket.
I'm giving it 4 stars as I have the old model, no over pressure valve and no baffle at the bottom. In spite of the detractions, I liked it so much, I've just bought the orange version (with baffle and OP valve).

Have not used it yet. This is large, even rolled up it is a large bulky package. Looks very visible from a distance and provides a lot of lift when used for a lift bag. I thought it would have an oral inflation valve also but it does not. I thought it would be same as the orange OMS model(but in yellow) which has oral valve as well but it is not the same. Too bulky for recreational use in my opinion. Well made just bulky.

Another great product from OMS. This safety sausage does just what it is designed to do. Easily deploys and highly visible. I like to use the top strap for attaching a writing slate to describe problem on bottom if situation calls for it. This should be a must on all dives for those trained in their use.
