My octo's look like they have been through space because the octo hangs on the side rubbing on sand, rock, metal hulls. Now its under my chin and protected. When I do need my octo, its now,and now I know where it is. Tec Divers call it a suicide strap because if you feel yourself passing out, the necklace will keep the mouthpiece in place

I have found this an effective way of storing my backup reg. The regulator sits nicely just where an occy should be for ease of access in an emergency. Other reviewers seem to have used this necklace for their primary reg rather than their backup so this may be why they had difficultly. Note the manufacturers description: "is derived from technical divers that had a need to keep their back-up regulator close when needed".

This was a great idea and would be a great product if it came in different sizes. It is too short and pulls from the seated spot on my regulator to my lips requiring continuous adjustments while diving. It is great for when you are on the surface and your regulator is not in your mouth because it is readily available. Great idea just needs a little more time in the design phase.

It's a well-intentioned piece of equipment that is poorly designed. The rubber is too thick. When placed around the mouthpiece it interferes with proper seating in the mouth.
After testing it in the water I came up with an alternative installation method. Instead of placing it around the mouthpiece, I put the round rubber holder around my exhaust tee, which might not always be possible if you have a small 2nd. I haven't tested this setup yet, so it might not even work. At any rate, you can easily make your own reg. holder out of elastic string and zip-tie. That's what my buddy did, it works great. Use your imagination...I obviously did not:).

I use a lenght of surgical hose knotted around my reg. Only bought this article for my girlfriend because she's more stylish, you know... Well, it seems to last longer than my own artisanal one, it's nicer, and just as cheap! She loves it and so far it never let her reg go.

If you are planning on doing some shore diving in Bonaire (or anywhere for that matter) this is a great way to keep your regulator close by as you are swimming out to the bouy. By using your snorkel for breathing while swimming out to the reef, you are saving countless bottom time minutes once you desend. Just don't forget to switch out to your reg first!
