Comments about JBL JBL #894 4" Gulf Slip Tip:
This is a good slip tip, but there are two things I modify and one weak point. First thing, I remove the rubber o-ring from the seat. This often prevents the slip tip from deploying. Just rig it up like a Riffe with a small cord to tuck between the bands once the gun is loaded. Second, there are two crimps near the tip, one of which is loose. Slide the loose crimp as close to the tip as possible and crimp it off or it will get wedged behind the barbs of the slip tip and cause it to pull straight out of the fish. The weak point is the slide ring, which is welded instead of a solid piece. I have has these slide rings bend open.
