If you need the type of pocket normally installed on a wetsuit or drysuit thigh but don't have one installed, this makes a handy alternative. It also enables you to keep the same items with you when you change suits.

Comments about Dive Rite Dive-Rite Thigh Pocket # 2761:

Having gotten tired of not being able to see/open/close pockets other than dropdowns on various rental BCs, I bought this pocket when I bought my own BP/Wing and wetsuit. I decided to get this one rather than an attached pocket because I also occasionally rent drysuits, so I can move the pocket to whichever exposure suit I'm using.

You need 2" webbing, on a waistbelt or otherwise, to attach this to. I like the internal stiff mesh pocket against the back, which separates tables/wetnotes/slates etc. from the main part of the pocket. A Quest or Mini-Quest magnetic slate is too big to fit in the mesh pocket, though -- it has to go in the main compartment.

The only issue I have is with my gloves: they tend to catch/stick to the velcro on the pocket when I'm inserting or removing gear, requiring use of both hands: one to hold the pocket open and away from my other glove, the other to manipulate the gear. Maybe a change of gloves to ones with a slicker outer cover is in order, alhthough it's more of an irritant than a major problem.

Side grommets on either side near the top allow you to install bungie loops to clip gear to, and there's also a plastic D-ring centered just above the mesh pocket (against the inner side) if you prefer clipping off there. I tend to use that clip for items in the mesh pocket: if you clip off gear in the main section there and also have stuff in the mesh pocket, the clip/gear will be in the way if you want to access anything in the mesh pocket.
