I carry this whistle in case of emergencies while on the surface. This whistle is very loud and does exactly what it says it does. I am in the Army and we use this exact same whitle. You will have NO PROBLEM getting somebodys attension using this.

Above the surface if you blow the whistle full blast it will make your ears ring after. Saying it's loud is an understatement. Does not use a ball, so there is nothing to break or corrode, simple durable design.

The purpose of this item is for emergency use. To alert, call, warn, identification and location. It is VERY loud and will work in all conditions. Everyone should have one. I bought two; one in a EDC/hiking bag and one in my survival bag.

This whistle is LOUD.

I also bought the "Jet Scream" whistle and it is not as near as loud.

It works so so as an underwater signal, but I bought it to summon help on the surface of a lake or quarry, and to use on boat dives as a locator.

It comes with a metal ring attachment - it would be nice if it had a lanyard to tie it off to the inflator hose (had to make my own).

Also I'm not sure that it floats - nice feature if you carry it in a pocket and drop it!

Pay the extra few buck and get it - if you ever need it that's money well spent.

This is the LOUDEST whistle I have ever come across. Will definitely get others attention. With the odd shape it is easy to find and hold onto when feeling for it and the bright orange color is very visible.

I'm not a diver but I have used this whistle at school for about 12+ years. It is the perfect whistle for yard duty because it really gets everyone's attention. I just ordered one for my purse for safety. It can be quite piercing and loud, so I usually warn anyone near me before I blow it. The kids think it is great!

This whistle is extremely loud and a good addition to my safety gear. It clips easily to my BC. It is supposed to be audible up to half mile....and I totally believe it. My ears were ringing after trying it. Glad I have it, but hope I don't ever have to use it.
