What makes this one so attractive is the whole package. The compass is mounted on a slate that is big enough for the essential message, yet small enough 2.5" x 6.5") to fit many BC pockets. The slate also helps you level and aim the compass. Both are mounted on a 25-inch retractor that clips to your BC.

i like the construction very strudy and small enough to fit in BC or Dry Suit pocket, i did find the writing area a bit small but overall it is a great way to carry a back up compass

its really just something to hang off your vest. convenient to pull down and scratch a word or two but beginners need more than a couple words. by the time you have enough experience you dont need to write to your buddy and you have a good compass.

It works great as a dive slate, the compass does leave something to be desired. It is easy to use, if one has the patience to let it work, honestly the slowest compass i have ever used, although highly accurate. Also, there is at least 1 metal bar in the compass that has a habit of coming loose and throwing off the whole compass, and once it does it will no longer work, ever.
