I've taken the retractor on several dives now and use it to secure my dive light in an accessible place. The retractor has enough pull that using the locking mechanism is not necessary for this accessory; in fact, short of using it to carry more lead, I can't imagine an accessory that would cause this retractor to pull out without your assistance.

Some buyers might not like that the retractor cord is made of cloth string instead of metal cord (though it is possible it is cloth string wrapped around metal??)

Construction is tough, like all gear should be. Have used it with a Nemo lamp and with an Ikelite housing. Reatracts very well and keeps gear close.
