The gauge guard is clear, hard and protective, It sits on top of the gauge glass on four adhesive dots and will distribute and force of hits or blows and protect the glass from breakage. It is clear and doesn't easily scratch.

The guard may be a little distracting on the surface after a dive, because water beads between the glass and the protector. Underwater, it does not distract because water enters this space and it is clear, with no bubbles. The adhesive dots are also clear and see-through. I can't say I ever thought about the guard or noticed it underwater.

The soft plastic guard I received with the unit became scratched and frosted after a dozen dives, which was much more distracting underwater.

I've had one on my gauge for several years and it is clear and shiny, in contrast to the the worn appearance of my PP2-- I do shore diving in Central California and scrape the hell out of the PP2 on the sand and rocks, but this shield has held up.

Unlike several other people reviewing this protector, I can't remove the shield easily, but it can be pried off. The shield has never fallen off.

I did not apply it on a brand new gauge, maybe a couple of washes in salt water pits the surface enough to make this stick better. Don't know.

The PP2 has a big screen, which makes it more vulnerable to damage than the smaller round gauges I've used. This shield provides more than adequate protection.

I have used this for over 40 dives in warm and cold water. It just recently came loose and I am going to buy another. I have tried the static protectors and they last a couple of dives at best.

I think its a good thing to have but the one I bought fell off on the 2nd dive. I put it on as per the instructions and two dives later it was gone. Therefore it was a complete waste of money for me.

I sent this item back. I bought this with my new Pro Plus II to do the right thing by protecting my new investment. It is in the way and is a distraction to the data on the computer. Between the adhesive dots that I didn't trust and the sides and edges; the whole thing was in the way. Now let me tell you there is a heavy plastic static adhearing protector that comes with the computer that sticks to the face and it does the job great. I would like to see replacements of those for sale.

My wife and I both had one of these. It worked great until thy fell off and were lost after a few dives.

This protector looks bulky above water, but once it is attached to the face of your ProPlus 2 you'll never realize it's there, but it will save the face of your computer from damage.

Have used several times so far, very good at protection, haven't had long enough to see if adhesive is not good [...]. Clear and guage is easly seen through cover. Like it better than plastic sheets. I spearfish & go for lobsters also, therefore it gets beat up a bit.

Bought this to proctect the face of the computer while reaching under rocks for lobsters. The plastic screen does the job!

My only complaint is that the adhesive does not last a full season. But it's worth it for keeping the screen protected.
