Dive Alert is a specially designed, small, lightweight air horn that fits between your BC's power inflator and its air hose to become an integrated part of your power inflator. Installation is easy and takes only a moment.
Dive Alert does not require any modification of your other equipment, and it does not interfere in any way with its normal operation. When you need to get someone's attention on the water's surface, you simply press a button and Dive Alert uses a small amount of air from your scuba tank to make a piercingly loud sound; even as little as 100psi will give you a full-throated screech.

The dive alert worked great. When doing drift diving sometimes we come up a half mile or more from the boat. One 3 sec. blast from this whistle and the boat started coming our way.

This is a useful little signaling device. It can break your ear drum if you hold it too close to your ear and your tank pressure is high. On low tank pressures it isn't very loud but can still get someone's attention.

I have had to come up away from boat before and realize the importance of a loud safety signal. I had a Storm whistle and wasn't very impressed.
After researching surface safety signals' I decided to buy this model. I haven't had it diving yet but tried it in the garage with ears covered as others have recommended. Wow!!! It was so loud, my wife heard it and stopped a riding lawnmower 50 ft. away to see what the sound was from.
I will feel a lot safer boat diving with this signal. I also carry an OMS surface marker buoy that does double duty as a lift bag (for treasures I find) Leisurepro SKU:OMSLB5

MAN is this thing loud! I have read it's a little fragile, but I am careful with my stuff to the extreme, so I can't say one way or the other. I CAN say that this thing will practically blow your ears out if you're too close (I wasted some air on the boat using it to annoy my wife/dive buddy until she clobbered me). No guarantees, but as long as your tank has air (keep your whistle for backup), this will DEFINITELY help the boat find you. And isn't THAT a good thing!

I'm now on my 4th (I've given previous to friends). Some years ago, a friend of mine lost both his main and backup lights during a night-dive (blown bulbs) and also got separated from his dive buddy --you know; bad luck and stupid errors always come in batches. He surfaced and used it to signal the boat. The boat captain used the boat searchlight to locate and pick him up. If he hadn't had the Dive-Alert horn, he would heve been carried away by the current and irremediably lost in the sea. I never dive without one and reco them to all my buddies.

Good News: this is my third Dive Alert.
Bad News: This is my third Dive alert. As noted above, product works extemely well- loud and easy to use. Problem is the diaphragm is easily damaged by salt water: careful rinsing is a must after diving. Also, my first two Dive Alerts suffered cracks from liveaboard handling and ceased to function. But, at this point, it's the only really effective compressed air-driven surface alert

I nearly deafened myself when testing the Dive Alert when I first received it. Combined with an SMB, and strobe I feel very well equipped to do my part to help the Coast guard find me if needed.
Advertised to be heard at distances of 1 mile, but on water I think they are being modest! (Definitely put your ears underwater before firing)

This is one device you shold have attached on your BC for those emergencies. Last summer I was about 40 feet from my dive boat in Cozumel and used it for the first time. The captain nearly jumped ship since I had startled him w/the noise. So this device is extremely useful and effective.
The Dive Alert company is also very reputable and stand behind their products. I can say this first hand since I recently called and dealt w/their customer support for an issue.

Had the BCD inflater hose disconnect during a drift dive. Surfaced to find the boat following the rest of the group about 100 yards away. One blast of the Dive Alert and the boat was on it's way to pick us up. We got on board, reconnected the hose and resumed the dive with 5 min total surface time. Probably would have lost the dive if not for the Dive Alert. It's already paid for itself!

This thing is loud, I tried it out at the local dive shop in the pool and scared everyone half to death that was in the pool. A nice to have in an emergency to get everyones attention

I bought this after a bad experience in the Philippines, a nice, clear day, and the wind came up, the dive boat could not find us, even with safety sausages. Since then it's always with me, attached to either my BCD or my low pressure hose. It sure gets peoples attention.
