I just finished a week in Cozumel and was using Buddy Call for the first time. Three issues came up which make the product uneconomical and not very functional.1. Uses three batteries at[$] each that don't last very long.2. Switch is too easy to switch on - was accidentally turned on while setting up and/or putting on equipment. Can run the batteries down if it goes unnoticed for any period of time - which it did.3. I only got someone's attention one time and they were about 10' away. The rest of the week I got no one's attention and stopped using it. Some people were wearing hoods, but not all. I'll go back to a tank banger or air quacker. A real waste of money in my opinion.

can't hear anything with hood on..
I think it is waste of money unless
if you dive in warm water only.

The first time I tried this device I could bearly hear the sound when held next to my ear. I am not deaf. This is not a well designed device. Stick to the shaker/rattler type signaling devices for underwater use.

I guess it would be good in warm water, but I bought 4 of them for my family, while wearing hoods in the north East we could not hear the sound. A BIG waste of money. MY shaker I made out of copper pipe worked much better

I'm a hunter and often have my head buried inside some cave. My wife is a photographer & in our murkey California waters we sometimes want to gain the attention of each other. We have tried tank banging, & air powered underwater signaling to alert each other to no great satisfaction. Buddy Call got my attention immediately and made a better buddy out of me.

This is a battery operated diver-to-diver signaling device that enables you to immediately attract the attention of other divers while underwater. It’s used for general signaling and well as an emergency device. It may be worn around your wrist like a watch or attached to other gear like a BCD. Unfortunately, the first units to be shipped out had a manufacturing fault in the battery cap that no one was aware of. This fault made the battery caps hard to install, this was corrected as soon it was found and the units have been working well ever since. The Maker is receiving good feedback from happy users and because they dive with them themselves, they know the benefits: Buddycall® a smart, potentially life-saving idea:Often while diving, you want to get another divers attention to point something out, check on how much air is left in their tank, or to keep in touch with a group. Buddycall® can be heard underwater for up to 100 feet - creating a wide safety and communication radius. The fact that it operates independently of your air supply is an important safety component. In emergency situations, time is critical. With Buddycall®, divers are able to alert each other instantly so precious seconds are not wasted. Works even if your air tanks don’t:A common life-threatening emergency involves divers running out of air, whether by gear failure or depletion. In this situation, air-powered signaling devices won’t work. Other devices such as tank bangers and rattle sticks are clumsy and inconvenient. In an emergency, a diver could be too preoccupied or even confused to bang on their tank or shake a stick. With Buddycall®, you simply push a button to get the life-saving attention you need. (As is true with all audible devices, the wearing of a hood diminishes the effective range of the Buddycall®).Hands free emergency operation:It works by making a pleasant but attention grabbing sound. Activated by pressing a clearly visible button, a diver can use a short burst of sound to get a buddy’s attention or leave it in the ON position for hands-free use in an emergency. Use simple codes to pass your messages easily.Ideal for recreational divers and instructors:Buddycall® is designed for both diving and snorkeling. Dive Instructors and dive masters will find it to be of significant benefit because of its ability to enhance student and instructor communication. It will increase a student’s comfort level and confidence because they will have a reliable means to communicate with, and if need be, alert their instructor in an emergency. Skin divers young and old will use Buddycall to help keep the group together and to summon the attention of fellow divers[@]

Comments about Aqua Buddy Call underwater Signalling Devise:
My wife & I dive in sometimes murkey California waters. I have been known to be less than attentive as a buddy because of my intense interest in underwater photography. Lyn wanted an underwater signaling device that would draw my attention out of my viewfinder and Buddy Call has worked well for us that way. It is light and easy to use and does not require the innane banging on tanks with knives. She can turn it on & leave it so I can orient toward her via the sound emitted. We like it a lot!

Comments about Aqua Buddy Call underwater Signalling Devise:
This is a poorly designed, poorly manufactured, toy quality product. I am a reasonably competent design engineer, but it still took me 10 tries to get the battery plug installed. It stripped out about 1/2 of the plastic threads in the process. Once installed, the unit still did not work. I had to install a thin metal spacer between the batteries and the plug to make it function.
