I got this for my Wife who gets very bad dry mouth she loved it that much I brought one for my self. It does add a big of bulk to your first stage but it is worth it.

I suffer from really bad dry mouth where I can't swallow or my tongue would stick to my upper pallet. This was the perfect find. It arrived a week before our trip to Roatan, Honduras.
The instructions may appear overwhelming, but it is really easy to fit.
I had one of the diveshop people install while I watched.
I used it on all of my dives and it provided a whole new diving experience. From not have to deal with such dry mouth, I was definitely more relaxed and my bottom time was definitely on the increase.
I would highly recommend this to anyone who suffers from dry mouth - its heaven sent!

Bought one for my wife, and then gave in and bought one for me as well - it really makes a difference! 7 days of diving in Cozumel, 3 dives a day - not one case of drymouth, dry throat or headache. I found that equalizing was much easier and breathing was comfortable when there was no dry catch in my throat that I had previously. I was skeptical about it leaking, but was below 100 ft and not one bubble. Add a bit of fresh/bottled water to the wick at night or in the morning and it's good all day. It may seem expensive, but it is all worth it when there is no dry mouth/throat and no headaches!

My wife started using a bio-filter last may to help with medication-caused dry mouth. Then I got put on similar medication and developed dry mouth. After 11 dives in Cozumel in Nov., I can now see why she liked hers so much. Dry mouth gone!
My only ding on it is that if you have to disassemble it on a dive boat, you have to be very careful not to lose the filter and the plastic insert that holds the moisturizing foam as well as the foam itself. And don't forget to depressurize before adding water. You'll only make that mistake once, as I did. Good bye to the filler bottle.

Nice set up except it needs a 4-6 inch hose to connect to the first stage.
After 90 min under water you notice the wick and no dry air.
We did a deep dive at the Blue Hole in Guam and after 2 1/2 hours under water I sure did notice when I went to my stage bottles and no wick!
I used it for three weeks solid on my trip to Guam &Micronesia.
I logged 43 hours under water and I looked at the filter when I got home - WOW it works!
I highly recommend this product...

I wasn't blown away by this product in the way that I thought I would be (having read previous reviews). It helps with dry mouth, but it doesn't eliminate it. (The idea of a carbon filter for impure air is, let's face it, a gimmick. No one seriously believes you are going to rely on that filter if you got an impure fill.)
Balanced against that, you put an additional fail point into your breathing system.
Related to that, after installing it, you have quite a bulky first stage - I couldn't actually close my regulator bag, so I have to store my regulatory disassembled (which I dislike intensely).
We'll see, but it would shock me if I take it off my regulator after a while and go back to diving "dry".

This is placed inline attaching directly to your first stage. Your hose then attaches to the Bio-Filter and continues down to your second stage (Regulator). The airflow from the first stage flows through a charcoal filter and then through a humidifier consisting of a tube surrounded by for descriptions sake a dense cylindrical cotton/foam filter. This is used to absorb clean water (you add this), which will humidify the dry air passing through it.
Bottom line is that it works. No dry throat and I could feel the difference while breathing.

This is one of the best pieces of equipment we own! Diving is so much easier with the APOLLO. No more cottonmouth (you don't even realize you have it until you have tried the APOLLO), the headaches are gone and it is so easy to use! This is a definite MUST have when it comes to diving.

I suffer from extreme dry mouth when diving. In the fresh water springs that isn't a problem just take out the regulator and take a drink. Can't do that in the ocean. This is a fantastic accessory for anyone with dry mouth when diving!

This bio-filter works as advertised...make sure when ordering you choose the correct mounting diameter...and have your dive shop install it. Also bring the entire kit when having the installtion. This product definitely cuts down on dry throat and other mouth and throat related issues to be had from diving. The fittings stay locked. The user must remmenber to add moisture regularly or else the filter does not work as well.
Even though I ordered the wrong one, LeisurePro staff gladly facilitated ordering the correct size and accepting the return of the wrong one. No hassles. Yeah!

It really does add moisture to the air, but I still got a little bit of dry mouth. I left the wick in the filter a day or two after the dive (thinking I was going to do another dive). When I did take the wick out, there was a small black spot on it, so I should have removed it sooner. One other problem that I have noticed is that you can no longer just dunk your regulator in water to clean it since water can flow in through the refill valve.

My wife would get a cough from the dry compressed air. I got her a bio filter before we went to the Bahamas last summer. No cough, easy to use and no dry mouth. I just took a small bottle of drinking water in the dive bag and used that to refill the bottle that you use for the filter. I hope Santa brings me one.

The Apollo Bio-Filter / Moisture System is GREAT!! I've been a diver since 1969 and 2 years ago I decided to upgrade my equipment. This was a change like night and day. Most of my stuff was older than all but a very few divers on my dive trips. One of the best things I got rid of was a dry throat. My daughter even tried my tank and reg after a dive. She said she had to get a Bio-Filter because it made her throat feel BETTER after just using it for a couple hundred yards.
Make sure you hold down the purge while you recharge it between dives even though you shut off you tank and purged the line. Any pressure in the line will send the tip of the filler flying off the little plastic fill bottle. I was lucky; someone grabbed it before it flew out of the boat.

I Would Suggest that ALL Divers from Beginners up to Instructors should have one of this very safe PRODUCTs it will not only protect us from unclean air we breath but also avoid us from Toxic. I never experience any of this headaches and other disorientation stages when I have and used Apollo BIO Filter. Padi should recomend this product to ALL Divers.
