Comments about Aeris Aeris Sport Wristband for Manta Watch:

I purchased one of these sport wristbands for my Aeris Epic dive computer, because I was frustrated with the hassle of getting the stock rubber wristband over a thick wetsuit and fastened, especially while wearing gloves. This nylon model with velcro closure seemed like a much easier solution, which it absolutely is. This wristband makes getting your dive computer on as easy as can be.

It also makes getting your dive computer off way too easy.

Case in point: while breathing up for some freediving exercises off Catalina's dive park, in 110 feet of water, I absentmindedly tugged some stray fronds of kelp off of the buoy line I was holding, not noticing that the kelp had snagged the end of the wrist band, and with a very gentle tug, opened it entirely. Another diver mentioned a few minutes later that he'd seen a dive watch drifting by 20 or 30 feet underwater, and had anyone lost theirs?

Thankfully, this story has a happy ending, as some honest scuba divers were able to find it the next day and return it (thanks Emily and Jill!), but I won't be using this unreliable band to secure anything as valuable as a dive watch ever again.
