Comments about Seiko/Pulsar Seiko SKX173 Automatic Dive 200m Watch:

Had a similar Seiko in the 70's it lasted over twenty years. I used this one for diving only for one year plus then full time starting eight months ago. Was fast from the start but now it gains over 15 min. per 24 hours.

Comments about Seiko/Pulsar Seiko SKX173 Automatic Dive 200m Watch:

I purchased this watch impressed by Seiko's reputation of smart style, rugged design and accurate time keeping. Well, two of the three proved true. Keeping accurate time, something I consider the keystone function of any watch, is where this time piece fails. The watch was losing 10 minutes every two weeks.

I sent it to Seiko for repair which tinkered with it and returned it with a note saying it's not design to keep accurate time. And since they worked on it, it now runs fast.

Still, it's a beautiful watch and can take a pounding but so does a Timex at a quarter of the price.

Comments about Seiko/Pulsar Seiko SKX173 Automatic Dive 200m Watch:

I own an early version of this extrememly faithful watch. Regardless of some reviews I have read, I purchased this watch in 1979 and dove with it countless times on reefs, wrecks, rock formations, in heavy surf, surge, etc. I have never had to do any maintenance to it over the years, never changed the crystal (though it is quite scratched), never had it cleaned. I have had to change the band at least twice however. Over the years it has slowed down a bit and yes, if you don't wear it for about 48 hours it will stop (since it's a self winder). It is an extremely reliable and durable dive watch that will outlast most other watches as long as you keep the crown completely screwed down. I have recently met a diver in Florida that also had this watch for 25 years and loves it as well. It's like an old friend.

Comments about Seiko/Pulsar Seiko SKX173 Automatic Dive 200m Watch:

I've had my Seiko for 3 years and it has been very reliable. Since it's automatic, I have have re-set the time if I don't wear it for a day or so, but otherwise it's very accurate. I've never had a problem with it leaking and have made several dives with it to 130'+. The markings are very visible and I've had very few scratches even though I wear it constantly at work and am pretty rough with it. (I even took a bullet while wearing it during a SWAT entry). Great watch for the money.

Comments about Seiko/Pulsar Seiko SKX173 Automatic Dive 200m Watch:

I've owned this watch for 8 years and it still looks and functions very well. Yes it is self winding, hence "automatic" which is not as accurate but is adjustable by a watchmaker. It also has a crown which needs to be screwed-down in order to make it water proof. This watch has been with me all over the world in both fresh and saltwater. I've beat it up while working on the car and even after pitting the crystal when I forgot to take it off while welding, its still leak free.

Comments about Seiko/Pulsar Seiko SKX173 Automatic Dive 200m Watch:

I have owned and relied upon Seiko products for years and always wanted to add a Seiko dive watch to my collection. Sadly, I dive infrequently, but when I do, I wanted a "classic" timepiece supposedly reknown for their durability. NOT so. I owned this watch for just over a year, and probably due to having to constantly set the time because it is "self winding", NOT battery operated, it leaked on it's FOURTH dive. Not only that, but the luminous portions somehow corroded and they are so thick, the hands can't pass each other, so now its worthless. The contact at Seiko USA basically told me to take a hike when i asked about warranty. This is truly JUNKWEAR- my 8 year old Casio G-Shock is back diving again. I AM looking to Citizen for a replacement.... Too bad.. BTW, this watch cost HALF the current [$] when I bought it a year ago!
