The case back is actually stainless steel and when exposed to salt water will act as a sacrficial anode and begin to rust. So if you want a watch that the case back is going to rust away knock you self out. I own one with this problem and Citizen has just given me the runaround and refuse to admit that they have a problem even though many online dealers say the watch has been discontinued Citizen claims its not discontinued. so my take on it the dealer are aware of the issue and have declined to carry this model for some reason....
