This is a good primary reel no doubt about it. I bought this reel to do a cavern diving class and it worked good. However, this reel would suit only right-handers. You hold it in the right hand and use the finger to give the line tension going in; and you reel in with the right hand on the way out. This might not work too good for the lefties. A side-winder style reel will suit better.

This is another great product from OMS. The 330 feet of line is a perfect medium that fills a gap in other manufacturers product lines. The guard insert does its job well. I've used this reel for a couple years diving in all conditions and have never had a jam. OMS could use a lesson in proper hand grip design though. Something similar to the Manta design where you put your hand "through" instead of just holding would be far better in my opinion

The OMS Primary Reel is strong and solid. With 110 yards of strong line at your disposal you can go long and deep. It is big, bulky and heavy. The line can get away from you if you are not careful but that is true with most reels.
I hear good things about Manta reels but they are pretty expensive and I have a love hate relationship with their trigger handle drag. The OMS Primary reel works for me.
