Needed a new reel with high line capacity; was advised to go with a higher priced reel from a different manufacturer, but saw this one and for the price decided to try it out. THIRD time I was using it to deploy a safety sausage from 100 feet, the screw/bolt holding the reel to the frame backed out of it's hole and the whole rig came apart in my hands... guess you get what you pay for....

Well-made, light weight reel, absolutely neccessary for deploying safety markers on the surface, u/w navigation in limited/ no vis and cave/ wreck diving. Easy to use in 5mm gloves, drag knob should be relocated to other side for easier one-handed deployment. Practice in controlled environment before using with bouys!!!

Great product-does everything I need it too-I read other reviews on the auto tensioner & decided not to get that option. I have used the reel several times with the only issue being I knocked it loose once & had some cord trailing behind me-my fault for not checking it prior to dive. Dive buddy spotted it. No harm no foul.
Very good value.
Frequent customer & haven't been let down yet!

Excellent reel.
Comments about Dive Rite Dive-Rite 140 ft # 24 Line Safety Reel # 4100:
Very Smooth Operation. It is perfect for venturing out around wrecks in lower vizibility, shooting up a lift bag or saftey sausage, and using it as a back up in cave/cavern applications.

This is a great reel! However I ordered the drag option and it caused the reel to bind both when releasing and reeling in. I double checked to ensure the thumbscrew was backed out all the way but the drag still caused the reel to bind. Don't buy this reel if you need the drag option. After removing the drag, it worked great!

I looked at many reels proir to deciding to purchase Dive Rite. For the money the item is well constructed and has worked very well. I have only used it to tow a surface marker, but look forward to using it for other purposes.

Comments about Dive Rite Dive-Rite 140 ft # 24 Line Safety Reel # 4100:
This is a poorly designed and manufactured product. The price was reasonable but the quality is lacking. This reel failed on its first use and created a potential entanglement situation at 60ft.
Comments about Dive Rite Dive-Rite 140 ft # 24 Line Safety Reel # 4100:
Nice reel for fun. I see alot of divers with reel overkill dealing with nesting, complicated mechanism, and extra weight. This reel works well for most dives and depths. If you need more carry an extra finger spool and snap on. Simple is better. Used on 3 dives with low vis and natural navigation on ledge was difficult.

Great little reel for scallop diving or for a backup reel for technical diving.

Easier to wind compared to a thumb-reel but more bulky. I use it for low visibility navigation, towing surface markers, searches, etc. Simple and effective. Good materials/contruction.

Works great from running a line to lifting scallops off of the bottom of the Bay of Fundy.
