Comments about Aqua Ratchet Dive Reel, Yellow:

Line tangles easy. This could be a good product with some work. The line tangled and I had to wait until I got home to get it untangled. The sides are not high enough and the spool spins to easy. Needs higher sides or less line and a way to control the speed of the spool. Would also reccomend a knob instead of a screw head so the spool can be removed more easly if the line does tangle.

The design of the mechinism is great, however the line comes off the sppol to easily sometimes getting tangeled. Taller reel sides or less line would help.

Comments about Aqua Ratchet Dive Reel, Yellow:

Very easy to use until it breaks, and it will. The side of the reel with the knob on it will break near the center. When this happens your line will free spool everywhere.

I have seen this happen with 2 different people who each owned this reel.

Line tangles

Poor Construction
Best Uses:

Comments about Aqua Ratchet Dive Reel, Yellow:

Line tangles between spool and handle - I was able to untangle it a few times underwater (no gloves) but the last time I used it I couldn't get it fixed underwater. Took me about 2 hours once I got home - I was seriously considering just cutting it and having a shorter line, or throwing the whole thing away and buying something with a different design. Very frustrating ordeal.

I have had this product for about a year and used it on ~40 dives. Recently the side of the reel completely broke off. The plastic around the bolt appears to have sheared off. For the money it is a good basic reel. However do not expect it to last.

Best Uses:

Comments about Aqua Ratchet Dive Reel, Yellow:

Great Reel at a great price. I did remove 1/3 of the line on one reel and found it worked better that way. Don't worry there is plenty of line for a shark tooth hunt. I bought one for me and one for son. I really like the thumb lock. Much easier that other models I've looked at. I'll buy again if I ever wear this one out.

It would be great if this plate was reversable. But its not. I use it right handed, but it would be nice if I could switch it to my preference, but all in all its a good reel. Get the 250,though. It's not that much extra line.

The line came off reel when reeling it in and wound around the axel, the line guide pulled out of the plastic and fell to bottom(lost). I had to make a replacement. the reel was drying about 2 ft off the cement and fell and the plastic reel broke. I only used it to pull a diver below float.

Comments about Aqua Ratchet Dive Reel, Yellow:

I'm a little concerned about the long-term durability of the plastic handle.... however, it is very handy for diving off-shore... it gives a constant reference point to the anchor line... also it allows for more time to hunt/fish at depth without the need to stop early to "find" your way back to the anchor line...

Cons:
Too much line.

Comments about Aqua Ratchet Dive Reel, Yellow:

Would be perfect with a smaller reel size,(120 ft or so)

I use at end of dive to attach sausage and run it up to the surface and slowly reel in for ascent control and signal my position to the boat. Any line longer is just added drag.

Reel construction and operation are excellent.

Cons:
Line tangles
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Aqua Ratchet Dive Reel, Yellow:

The reel is made well and is relatively simple to use right out of the box. I did find that the top of the reel tended to allow the line to spill over and create some tangles. A quick modification of putting another guide at the top of the reel, just like the one at the bottom, fixed this problem. I used it at about 100 ft in current with no problems.

Comments about Aqua Ratchet Dive Reel, Yellow:

I have 3 of these reels. Two of them being different sizes. It doesn't matter, they all broke in the same spot, in the middle of the trigger. Can't find anybody to sell me replacement trigger. Work good till they break.
