(based on 17 ratings)
Brand: Aqua
Located in: Add-On Gear, Reels
Finger Spool is most often used as a gap reel or for short distance exploration. Small and low-profile, a spool fits nicely out of the way in a pocket or clipped off to a D-ring. The holes in the side allow for clipping in a double ended snap anywhere along the perimeter of the spool to keep the line tight when not in use.

Comments about Aqua Blue Reef 100' Finger Spool.:

I chose this reel because of light weight (less than 400 grams)I set it up with a small surface marker and clipped to my B/C out of the way, but retrievable with one hand.
Worked very well even when I was carrying large camera. Deployed marker at 30', and the panga was overhead when we finished safety stop.

Bottom Line:

Comments about Aqua Blue Reef 100' Finger Spool.:

This is a great item to have for deploying dive sausages when drift diving or diving in strong currents where maintaining position on a buoy line during ascent is difficult. Unlike many reels, this one is compact and very simple to operate. The only down side is that two hands are required to operate it. I am often lugging substantial research gear up and down so both my hands are not always available. However, requiring two hands for operation is a problem with most reels so I cannot really knock this product for that limitation. Overall, this product performs well and, combined with a dive sausage, is a great piece of safety gear that should be on every divers BC.

Comments about Aqua Blue Reef 100' Finger Spool.:

I first saw a divemaster in Cozumel using this spool. Before going to Bonaire the first time, I got one for myself to use with a safety sausage. It requires more focus to deploy than a more expensive spool with a handle and brake but it's a good value and does the job. You can use the rope as a clothes line or the brass clip for other jobs.

The plastic of the reel looks to be well constructed. I did manage to slice up my hand pretty good opening the latch for the first time as the brass is not polished off smoothly at all. I ended up throwing the sharp edged hook in favor of a [$] piece [...]
