First, the reel is too small for the amount of line on it. Second, the lock doesnt stay locked. Third, the line is of poor quality. Today we dove with the reel and line attached to a float and dive flag so that our boat could follow us. At some point the line was cut by a piece of coral (or something)and we were seperated from our float. As a result we ended up 3/4 of a mile away from our boat. The boat was following the flag which became seperated from us. Long story for a short answer. The reel is cheap and the line isnt very strong. Spend a few more dollars and get somethig quality so you dont end up drifting for an hour before your dive boat finds you.

Great reel. Used for safety sausage while spearfishing. However, need to use both hands to ensure doesn't run too fast.

For the Money you can't beat it, but it is real bulky, and kind of a pain to deal with when attached on your BC, or tucked in a pocket( Lucky my BC has 2 rather large pockets) But if you want to use it for marking dive navagations for students, and follow lines for advanced dives it is Ideal for the money. If you are a new/or plan to be cave diver, This IS NOT the reel for you!But then again it dosen't cost $100-$250 for smaller compact (Stainless Steel) type models.I have used it to deploy safety saugage on practice runs, and it is very bulky, but serves it's purpose.I had bought 2 of them just for the fact they are cheap, and are a great tool for new students to learn with.

You get what you pay for. Just like the ad says, this reel is great for your dive flag or SMB. I would recommend something different if you plan on any low vis dives or search patterns. I got mine for my flag on rec dives.

Good product for the price. It includes a small D-ring at the end of the line, but it doesn't come with a larger D-ring to attach the reel to your BC. The lock, skip and free features are nice to help with line control.

I like to cover more than 150' and I usually trim the first 25% off a new Reel for the first dive usually ends up in a mess due to the line expanding and my winding skills!

Looking for a good value in a reel and this fit the bill. I cut back about 10 yards of line that came with it because it started to bind. Worked great after that. Also drilled a couple holes in the handle to attach extra clips. Versatile and compact for occasional use, but would recommend heavier duty for frequent wreck divers.

Great little reel, why pay [$]? It has a stop, skip and free winding function. It can be unscrewed, broken down and put back together again if needed. Great for sending up a SMB from depth.

The dive reel is light weight, easy to use.
the only downfall is that occasionally the line gets tangled within the reel, but it is easy to prevent by keeping an eye on the reel, and also eay to untangle.

for the cost of this unit when I lost my last one, it did not bother me a bit. I just ordered a new one, as a matter of fact I plan to by a spare one on next order.

Works well when exploring, dont have to worry about finding the anchor line. Hook ups need to be set for your needs such as line clip is too small when gloves are on. It is a very good reel for the cost, it is also a great saftey item to have.

love the way the string cant get over the side of the spool.

This reel is great to start off small wreck dive. I love the skip function, it helps me pace myself when going in small wrecks.

Used this reel when I took a cavern certification course in Florida, with no problems. A little bulkier than true "cave reels" which makes it a little harder to tie off lines but overall performed very well.

A great reel for the money. All plastic, so no parts to rust. Only negatives are the toggle switch - it is a little loose and slides very easily to free spool. Other negative is that when ascending and reeling the line in, you have to guide to line so it doesn't all reel on one side of the reel, causing the reel to stick.Overall -- great reel to have for under $30 bucks [...]

I use the reel for my surface flag. A small anchor is attach to the reel handle, set on the bottom if necessary.

Tangle free and rewinds very well.

the stop slide does not work that well, allowing free spooling at times.

Used this reel for my Wreck specialty course during penetration dives on the Yukon and Ruby E wrecks in San Diego. Easy to use I didn't have any "Birds Nest" issues or any other issues. Also a couple weeks ago used it for a surface float reel during a drift dive in the Colorado River, and wreck dives in Lake Mojave. Very hard to beat for the price!

This is a good reel, but I found it a little too big for my needs. The locking mechanism works well, but it requires the use of both hands. For the price though you can not ask for more!!

For the money, this is a solid purchase for beginning your diving experiences that involve light reel use. The switch is a little too easy to change from one setting to another, making accidental switching more likely, but that is a minor flaw. Reels in very smoothly and is very comfortable to hold.

I only had this reel in the water a couple times. The stop button which is made entirely of plastic does not work very well. Although this reel is relatively inexpensive, I still would expect the stop to not flop around. It is supposed to be a 3-position switch, but mine now works only in two - release and stop. No clicking in between.

Used for the first time in open water but very poor visability. Very user friendly for first time use.

I use this reel for towing a dive flag while shore diving. It is also useful for deploying a surface signal float for a drifting safety stop. It seems to work well in these situations.

I did not even get to use this real once when the small plastic locking mechanism broken rendering the whole reel useless. I would not buy this again.

Nice, cheap reel for occasional use by recreational divers for shooting a lift bag or marker bouy. Not recommended for cave, overhead, wreck, or serious "life depends on it" uses.
