Comments about Canon Canon WP-DC8 Waterproof Housing for Powershot A630 / A640 Digital Cameras:
Canon should be commended for producing useable waterproof housings for outdoor enthusiasts. It has been noted by other users that this housing is best used for the occasional underwater photographer, or for those that will be used heavily at the beach, in wet conditions and the like, and I certainly agree. You can make some decent images using the camera, but that would be limited to things you can photograph from within 2-3 feet (using the flash and diffuser), and those you can photograph at a distance, in water with great visibility, and don't need flash: e.g. ship wreck.

A good use of the flash using the housing.

Comments about Canon Canon WP-DC8 Waterproof Housing for Powershot A630 / A640 Digital Cameras:
Canon make a fair housing - if you dive a few times a year and take the odd happy snap, then this is the housing for you. If you dive more regularly and want a reliable housing try another brand.
Only really good for macro and then the flash produces a dark section in the bottom right corner - enough to ruin a good shot.
Can't attach lens to housing ie fish eye or macro
Flash maximises the backscatter.
Springs on the buttons give out early making setting changes hard UW
Overall - fair for a casual user
