I love this light. I dive in alot of low vis lakes in central texas and it works great. The only thing I didnt like was the handle that is held on by one small screw.
Everything the folks are saying about this light being powerful is true. For the money, this is a blazing hot light cannon at 450 lumens output. (buy lots of batteries) Unfortunately, however, the cheap plastic inner switch (pictured) can loosen quite easily as it pivots around a simple phillips screw when you turn the light off / on. The net effect is that the loosened inner switch does not follow the outer switch (also pictured) as you move it from Off to On position. You will be in total darkness without warning. And don't try shaking your baby back to life or trepidly rotating the switch around… When it’s done – it’s done.So if you should happen to find yourself in a cave filled with strong surge and needle sharp sea urchins - and your buddy decides to take off in another direction looking for lobsters - that's a bad time to realize that you have an expensive UK Light Cannon 100 with a crummy [$] cent plastic inner switch in it. That switch will make up it's own mind when it decides to stop contacting your fresh new batteries. That Wow-Factor of, "Hey Cool! - I have an awesome new flashlight toy!" could become seriously trumped by that "Holy cow - I'm about to die" feeling. Don’t worry, your light will start working again if you make it back to your car, open the seal, and move the inner switch around with your finger.Bet your life on a [$] piece of plastic that is impossible to tighten with a normal screwdriver? I'll be spending the extra money on an upgrading to a DIR compliant Tektite, Halcyon, or OMS product.

The beam can be descriped as Cool light.Yes it is white but not so strong as other reviews say.In contrast with my other two lights Vega2 and Phos Tronic it is far away.
This is a cannon of a light. The light will eliminate the bottom of the ocean day or night. I was a little concerned about the one screw to secure the light to the handle, so I super glued the pistol grip for piece of mind. I put my lobster gauge in the front and can't wait for lobster season to start in California.
Great light, brightest by far of the lights I dove with.
The UK HID Light Cannon is a very intense blue light beam with a long burn time. I used the light for the first time on a recent dive trip where I did four very long night dives with no reduction in beam intensity. It's a great HID primary dive light for recreational diving and at a reasonable price. See the picture of a Basket Star I found on my night dive while using the UK Light Cannon.
Delivery was prompt, on time and packaged to ensure no damage.

This light is great for distances of 15 feet or less. The beam color is great for photography. I have used it with the battery pack and with disposable batteries. The battery pack lasts about one hour, but you only get HID quality for the first 30 minutes. The disposable batteries last about 45 minutes. I see the statistics, and the reviews on this light. People saying they get 20 dives, or 4 hours out of this light. I don't believe it. Or maybe I just got a dud. Great for the first dive. Don't expect see much on the second dive. I would recommend this light, but with a caution. For the price, you may want to consider a tech light.
very powerful light, its like taking the sun under with you, students have no problem finding/following me
BRIGHEST LIGHT I'VE SEEN FOR THE MONEY. CAN'T BEAT THIS LIGHT FOR PRICE AND BRIGHTNESS. THIS LIGHT BLOWS A LOT OF CANNISTER LIGHTS AWAY. EXTREM LIGHT AND EXTREME DISTANCE WELL FOCUSED BEAM OF LIGHT. USED IT CAVE DIVINF IN FLORIDA WORKED VERY WELL. ONLY DOWN FALL IS THE REPLACEMENT BULB RUNS BIG BUCKS. GOOD BATTERY LIFE. ALSO HAS A RECHARGABLE BATTERY KIT AND ACCESSORY HANDLES.WEAR YOUR SUNSCREEN THIS BABIES BRIGHT. BEST LIGHT FOR THE MONEY
using this light is like carrying the sun in your hand, all the colours of the sea come screaming back at you
An excellent choice for deep and night diving. This one really lights things up.
Excellent price, service and delivery. Leisure Pro is the BEST!
I use it during night dive class...the students will never loose sight of me and it works great as a light source while video.
Great light, I like the optional handles that come with it and the fact it uses regular batteries incase you can't find a place to charge it or it's the wrong voltage... However, it is heavy, not something you could use as a light weight handy backup light!!
Great Light for Night Dives.
I use this torch on night dives and on dull days. The light from it is very bright making it easy to see all colours underwater. If I had to find a fault it would be it is a bit heavy on batteries.
I could not believe how fast I got my order.Ordered it on Tuesday and had it on Thursday.
this is one of the best lights for recreational diving where you don't need to cut through a lot. The battery life lasted me around 20 dives and the bulb is still fine many dives later. While it has a very bright, wider beam, you get what you pay for, and compared to the professional and advanced light systems this can't compare in quality-or price! So for those limited budgets out there who don't need super sight, go for it.
I have two of them that i use as video lights on my "poor mans" camera rig. They are wonderful when used with the supplied diffusers. Great H.I.D. value! They also look really cool at night when the rest of your buddies are using halogen or l.e.d.... my mask leaks from the smile!
I was dissapointed with the light,it was not as bright as I hoped, the switch comes off in your hand, and it doesn't allways come on.
The one thing I like about this product is that it gives out a light beam that helps illuminate macro subjects such as nudibranchs (background/ fill light) that I am interested in.
This is my third Underwater Kinetics dive light and all three have had problems with the switches. [...] The switch on this model has two settings for low and high intensity. The low intensity switch stopped working after a few dives. The high switch still works and I'm pretty happy with it. It is brighter than the eLed model and decent for the price range. [...]
Awesome light! Super clear white light. On a recent trip, we were diving a wreck, and my buddy was looking in an opening with his large light. I shined the light cannon's beam into the same place he was looking and his beam disapeared. He threw me the bird, and followed me arround the rest of the dive. None the less he has one now. Only down side to this light is the eight battery's. Normal 8 energizer batteries last about 10 to 15 night/cave/wreck dives. The replacement bulbs are not cheap either. I haven't had to replace one yet, and I've been on about 30 or so dives with it so far.
I've owned many dive lights and this one is by far the best !!!
I've used this dive light in caves, caverns and at night. I will tell you right now that if you have a spose that you regularly go diving with, you should plan on buying two. One for each of you. I made the mistake of getting myself this new light at the start of 2007 and handing down my previous primary to my wife. BIG mistake. So now I'm back to get another one of the same. Learn from my mistakes and get TWO to start out with.
It's easy to get lost and confused in the world of underwater lighting. Up until the time that I used an HID type light underwater, I had gone thru 7 different high priced lights, too include halogen, xenon, and many useless LED types. Quite by accident, I was asked by a dive friend to see if I could repair her pro type HID light. I got it working, and she allowed me to use it on several dives after i repaired it. MY GOD, is HID light years beyond anything that I have ever used..! How could I have ever known..! I compared it to each and every other type light that i owned, and the difference was nothing short of amazing..! The color temp of the light (5-6k) is the key factor here, and when you pass the light over a coral reef at even 20' depth, it changes mundane color into brilliant picasso..! You have got to see it to believe it..!!! Light color temp is the key, and other lights (at lower temp, 2-3k) just illuminate the object that you are pointing them at, in a VERY yellow color. But not so with HID... point it at something, and wow, the original brilliant color appears..! So, ok , tech wise: do your research and you will soon discover that almost all HID lights cost $600 plus. So this light is an absolute bargain..! And if you really do your research, you will discover, in the fine print, that any HID over 10 watts or so requires a ballast (electronic system to fire the gas). Since this lamp is 10 watts, it doesn't need a ballast system, making it lighter, and more affordable. Does this distract from it's capability..? In my experience, 10 watts of HID will blow away anything other than higher power HID lights -- trust me..! PROs: runs on C cells, which you can purchase for less than 5 bucks each for Nickel metal hydride just about anywhere, and can be recharged about 500 times or so. Also, this light is an incredible value, with an excellent manufacturer warranty. CONS: the light beam is not focusable, unlike a few (not many though) of the $500-1200 models out there. And hey, if you are replacing a small AA light with this one, it's heavier and bulkier above water, but comfortable to use below water (rated to 500'). also, it's replacement HID bulb will set you back $75, but it's good for about 1000 hours. [...] has the best price anywhere -- BUY IT..!
This is a great recreational dive light. The beam is a little wide for exploration diving, but otherwise it's awesome. It puts many handhelds to shame. There is a slight difference between this light and my OMS Phantom canister, but I believe it is due to the beam focus (both are 10w HIDs). The Phantom beam is narrower and reaches out a bit further. Nevertheless, the UK Light Cannon really lights the place up! I'd highly recommend it for recreational diving where you need a light! I've had mine for over a year with no problems whatsoever. I would recommend getting the rechargeable battery pack for it as it can really go through the batteries otherwise. You'll save yourself some money in the long run if you do.
As a diver in the Pacific Northwest, a good dive light is a treasure for most of our dives. The diving is awesome, but visibility can leave a lot to be desired at times. This light never fails to brighten any dive, and I don't know of a better value out there in HID. Afraid of the dark on night dives? It shines even better at night. Maybe too much if you're comfortable in the dark, but it's great for that newcomer to night diving. Overall a great product, but do invest in the rechargeable battery kit.
Great light for the price. The way the handle is attached is a little scary with only one screw that doesn't go into anything. It just screws up against the light. Just pray it doesn't back out. If it comes undone you lose the whole light and left with a little plastic handle.
This is a very bright HID light for the price. One of the brightest centers with a fairly decent brightness out from center.
Very happy with this light. Dive buddy bought one too after seeing mine.
Having purchased and used numerous other lights, this is by far the best yet. It's good on battery consumption and provides a stong blue/white beam. Great for looking into holes, overhangs and into structure. I use it while spearfishing and am very pleased with the results. The only negative is the weight. When using it I drop about 3 lbs from my weight belt.
I have had several comments by dive buddies about how bright and how white the light is. I have dove it 4 times and am still on the first set of batteries so I don't know exactly how long they last but I am already satisfied.
A good product at a very good price, even more with the Euro to dollar conversion rate. I think it needs attention while opening/closing in order to maintain a long life to this product.
Great light at a great price. [...].
Could use a focusing devise to go from wide to narrow beam.
This light has worked like a champion in Mexico and Honduras in calm and extreme conditions. Like any piece of dive equipment you need to rely on, you need to properly care for and maintain. The rechargeable system is the best, I never had a flood, and the beam reaches deep into crevices so that you can see the day time sleepers or night critters as I like to call'em.
This is an impressive light; highly recommended.
brightest light for that kind of money....nice
This is light is great! It's very bright, like you took the sun on a dive with you. It is an HID light though, so the you can't be switching it on and off constantly. It requires a minute of warm up time. Don't use it out of the water either. Read the manual on how to care for an HID light before you even turn this on. It will save you a lot of grief. Also, this light has never flooded on me yet.
I previously owned a UK1200 and also still have a UK D8. The LC100 is smaller and lighter than the D8 and packs a mean punch. It is espesially awesome on night dives where it outshines just about anything recreational divers carry with them. I still use the D8 on day dives though as the LC100 does not like being swithced on-and-off repeatedly. However, the LC100 makes a great light for an underwater video rig. It ships with a diffuser and mounting is easy via the mounting grooves.I have not encountered any fussyness regarding batteries (I have the UK Rechargeable pack for it but if i MUST use batteries, I only use Duracell in my lights - I have had problems with non-Duracell batteries in previous dive lights) and mine has never leaked a drop. Also, it has the same build quality of the D8 and mine has seen plenty of action and is still going strong. I think the other reviewers may just have had some bad luck with their lights. [...]
This light is fussy with batteries, and has a bulb that should not be knocked around. When it works, it's the brightest I've seen in it's price range. Be sure to carry a spare light, if this is your primary!
When this works, it's as bright as several lights in the $1000 range. Unfortunately, this is much bulkier, and prone to flooding than the $1000. lights. Failures of this light have caused me to travel with a second "primary" light. On the dives where this works, it's awesome! On the dives it fails (it's sometimes fussy with batteries, and it's flooded on me twice), it's a big disappointment.
I wish the BrightStar HID had been available, when I bought this.
