For the price this is a great light. It is very bright. I have only used it once so I can not say how well it will hold up. It is not as good as a HID light but it is very well priced. You could buy this one until you save up enough for a HID and use it as a back up. You can feel the heat from the light. Much better than my Brite lite 5000.

you can use the D8 for day and night diving especialy if you add the rechargble batteries.
the inconvenience point the weight but all dive lights with more than 4 batteries are similair.
so i recomend the D8 to all scuba divers level

I have an issue with the On off switch. I have used this light right at 6 hours with one set of batteries mainly on low intensity but the switch has to be EXACTLY perfect for either beam to work. So if you switch to high beam, its gonna be dark till ya get the switch JUST RIGHT. Other than that its negative bouyancy so it will help in your bouyancy and if you set it down it will be there when you reach for it! Battery life superb! I dive rivers dark and spooky! Need good light! Switch as an issue though. [$]

I used this on a night dive recently in pretty poor visibility. It not only provided excellent illumination for diving, I was able to take some videos of the first green turtle I've encountered.

I use it for night spearfishing. If you are up to 10-12 meters freediver the this torch is more than enough! What I like very much is the wide light and that there is no chance to lose a fish in this rate.
