Used as an anchor line marker. Produces a great flash that can easily be seen. Have to activate it prior to entry off the boat, so there is no chance of flooding. Compact and light so hooking on to anchor line after tying hook in is quick and easy.

Comments about Tektite Tektite Xenon Strobe 300:
I generally like tektite products. I bought this 300 strobe, and then found reviews which said that the circuits burn out because they put too much power in it. When I got it, this strobe worked for one minute and burned out. When it did work, I noted that the unit was too big to put in a pocket and it did not seem to be very bright.
So I took it back to the store (I live in the same city) to get another one. We tried them all out, and we could not find a tektite 300 strobe that actually worked!
Instead, I got the tektite 200 strobe. The 200 is a full 3 inches smaller, lighter and it is really, really bright. The heavier, bigger, weaker tektite 300 is NOT an improvement over the 200, even when it works.
Summary: buy the 200.

I used to have the 200 and I was happy.
Suddenly I decided that I needed more light and I orderd the 300.When I recieved it I was completely disappointed. That was a bad mistake because the 200 it was much brighter.

Comments about Tektite Tektite Xenon Strobe 300:
After having the PT Aqua Strobe for a year I wanted something brighter. The Tektite 300 is about 5 x's brighter. After reading many reviews I found that a lot of people's 300 breaks after a few times of use. I contacted Tektite directly and they said that the Capacitors are at their limits and having a tough time handling the wattage and to opt for the tektite 200. But that was after I already ordered it. I've used it 3-4 times and it worked great. It's bright, batteries last a seriously long time. I am very happy with it, but still left wondering why a company continues to manufacture a product with known issues instead of halting production and fixing it. They also told me that when people return the 300 model that they have been substituting the 200 and shipping it back to them.
If you absolutely need this strobe to work 100% of the time opt for the 200. I also found this strobe to be a tad bit pricey, for what it is, especially for having known issues. It comes with a Velcro strap that I guess goes around your wrist but that's useless, so I put on a nylon pull cord on the light so I can attach it to anchor lines.
Tektite is a great company they just need to get their act together with this particular model.

Comments about Tektite Tektite Xenon Strobe 300:
Very disappointing performance. Luckily my dive buddy and I took it on a shallow day dive to test it out instead of relying on it right off for night diving. We hoped to use it to guide us to an exit point on a night dive. I tied it to a buoy line, went diving, came back in 30 minutes and it had stopped working. We could not get it to work again. I assume the bulb is dead--and it just sat there at 30 feet for less than 30 min.
