This is a great backup light that would be bright enough to use as a primary if needed. I hook this to my BC with a quick release coil lanyard, but it also fits in my BC pocket. Well made, easy to use switch.

I bought this specifically for Central America diving. Worked well at the Blue Hole. Not super bright, but enough to see the walls. Well focused. Uses AA batteries, which are easy to get in remote locations. Fits in BC pocket, seems rugged.

Nice and really bright! I like the one-finger activated lockout feature on the on/off switch so you don't accidently drain your battery in your dive bag. Honestly, I was expecting less for this price point. Nice high intensity beam is great for peeking into cracks, crevices, and holes. Not sure if the narrow beam would be the best as a primary light for a night dive, but would make a great backup and it should certainly be noted I haven't tried it during a night dive yet. Definitely well worth the money you'll spend and then some.

One of the brightest smaller flashlights for the price. I have a Streamlight TL3 that runs on 3 123 Litium batteries and is Very bright, but the batteries are a little expensive. This light is just as bright and runs on AA batteries that are ALOT cheaper!!! It also has a better focused beam than the Streamlight. The housing that holds the Bi-pin bulb in the Streamlight is Very Poorly designed and the bulb is constantly pulling out of the housing. This flashlight has a Very Good design that holds the bulb in Very Good!!! Highly Recommended!!!

First time I turned it on...on day dive...several divers and a lobster literally took a step back. The darned thing is seriously bright, not a wide beam but very focused. On a night dive it looked like an underwater lighthouse beam. On the boat was immediately asked where I got it.

Nice and bright, but I've noted on two of these lights that the switch action is intermittent at times. Perhaps this is related to the way the bulb assembly screws on...

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec Torrent Xenon:

Wonderful light, it's very inexpensive and the 117 lumens are as powerful as the larger lights. Remember this is a very small light so if you want small with a big bang for your buck, you have found the right light.

They come in all the different colors you want to compliment your accessories or make them noticeable for emergency such as the bright yellow.

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec Torrent Xenon:

I was impressed by how bright it was using AA batteries. The size is nice, it fit well in the BC pocket. I wish more companies would tell the consumer how many lumen their product has. I did think my batteries were dead not long after replacing them just to find out after the dive a good tap with the hand made it work. I was not impressed with that considering it was my third dive with the light

This light has become my standard light and I use it's smaller brother as my backup. These guys pack some power for the size and weight, I've been very impressed. I can't comment on reliability or battery life as I've only had them 6 months. So far it's been a great purchase.

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec Torrent Xenon:

I have a Surge. Love it. bright compact, great zoom. Bought my 2 dive buddies a Torrent for their Bdays. 1st, noticed when loosening the ring a tiny bit for the zoom function, that the light shuts off (looses contact with batteries). My Surge has clip that hold the electronics in place. They forgot that on the Torrent. 2nd, it just shuts off sometimes under water for no reason. Luckily I carry a great back up (another PTech light that works great. I think the Quality Control guy called in sick the day these two Torrents were made... if you buy one test it good before you are stuck with it. We waited to long after the purchase to return them. Tried swapping batteries etc, before realizing the lights were just no good.

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec Torrent Xenon:

I bought this light to replace my Pelican Super Saberlight 2000, which flooded on a dive and exploded on the surface (the end cap blew off).

The Torrent is a great light. Its very bright, very waterproof, and it has a simple switch that works perfectly. No possibility of flooding this one when turning it on.

I keep one on my rig all of the time and use it much more than my primary light due the great illumination and ease. Mine's on a retractable cord and its always ready when I need it. In wrecks, looking for lobster in holes during the day, whatever.

I use this light in lakes for looking underneath rocks, etc. It also works for seeing where you are going when it gets darker at depth. I would not use it as my primary light if I were caving or night diving because it does not cast a broad enough bright beam.

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec Torrent Xenon:

I just got this light because I didn't want to spend too much for a light I might not use that much. Aaron went through all the lights with me and suggested this because of the xenon bulb. As soon as I turned it on I knew I had the right light. It is super bright and fits great in my hand (medium size hands)The lanyard is well made and you better use it because the light drops like a rock if you let go of it. You could spend more for a light but I don't know why you would want to. This is the light if you don't want to spend much and this is the light if you want a small light and it just is an all around great light.
