Shockwave II
Power up from 7.5 watts to 15 watts of power with the flip of a switch. The economical 7.5-watt output mode burns for up to 10 hours and provides plenty of light for most diving conditions. For those pitch black nights, wreck diving and dark crevices, simply flip the switch to the screaming bright 15-watt output mode. Princeton Tec's innovative dual filament multi output bulb system eliminates the need for two bulbs and complex switching systems. This unique system also offers the added security of switching to an alternate bulb filament in the event the filament in use burns out.

Do not buy. The switch design is horrible. I switched the light on and off about 4 times before even entering the water and the internal mechanism broke. Good prices don't always mean good deals. Almost missed my night dive class. Now I have 2 primary UK's and 2 secondary UK's. Used on 20+ dives no issues yet. C8, D8, SL4.

I only got 2 uses out of this light as the first time i used it to 15 meters then i used it to 18 meters this time as soon as i hit depth water flooded in and the bulb exploded. I have two other friends that had the same light and said it was not any good for them either, it constantly leaks.

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, Shockwave II:

This is a good light. It's a little heavy but offers a good beam. The off/low/high beam switch can sometimes get stuck between the low/high beam mode, but possibly this is because I'm not pressing hard enough in cold water wearing gloves. I just simply move the switch back the its previous position and try again. This will correct any problem.

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, Shockwave II:

Great light for night diving, scoping out nooks and crannies, and wreck penetration. Lighter than similar lights using C cells, but this is a very bright light. Having 2 brightness levels helps prolong battery life while providing that extra light when needed. The switch is stiff at first, but loosens up after being used. I would buy again.

Bottom Line:

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, Shockwave II:

Read a lot of good reviews about this light before purchasing it. The only negative comments were about the poor design of the cheap plastic switch to turn on/off/low/high. Well, after 3 dives with this light the switch is completely broken and now the light is worthless. The only reason I gave a ranking of 2 is because the light beam is great, but that doesn't do me any good now. Stay away from this product. Also, will be interested how LP handles this defective product.

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, Shockwave II:

This is a good light for some just needing a light for looking around. Im personally a spearfisherman and found this to be a bit bulky and heavy for my type of diving. I use in with the coil lanyard and usually get to the bottom and try to find only to realize it has came out of my pocket and is dragging along. For me to use it to spot fish and shoot them is nearly impossible. I have to hold the light with one hand and rest the gun across the bottom cause the combined weight of the speargun and light is too much to fire into caves. the size of this is just too much for someone that need sto be streamlined in the water. If I could put this power output into a smaller package it would be the perfect light.

If your needing a light for a good price just to look at the pretty fish and cave dive. i would buy this in a heart beat. The 2 output setting are great on them merky days or when the sunlight is just starting to fade.

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, Shockwave II:

I have not personaaly used the light yet. I bought it mainly because of other reviews. It is compact, light, the switch is nice and the dual beam is great-be better if it was twin bulbs. Seems small to be a primary but I will not find out for a month or two. Looks to be very durable and other reviews say the same thing.

I really like the way this light makes night diving stuff beautiful. I don't like the "blue-gray" of LEDs. When diving with others at night, my light brings out the nicest coral/sponge/critter color, and spreads the view out just enough

Best Uses:
Primary for Wrecks
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, Shockwave II:

I found this light inside a wreck about a month ago. Somebody must have dropped it, but I found it with a coating of silt, must have been in the wreck at 85' from between a week to a month. Image my surprise when I turned on the switch and it worked perfectly, in fact I'm still using the same batteries I found it with after 2 more wreck dives. It's now my primary light. Its relatively lightweight for a primary and the battery life is good. The illumination is not bad given the size/weight of the light. Its very waterproof and has an excellent switch design.

Shockwave II - Passed the One Year Test
By Captain EdVerified Reviewer from St John, USVI on 3/16/2007
Pros:
Reliable
Cons:
Heavy
Best Uses:
Recreational
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, Shockwave II:

My Shockwave II has survived the dreaded one-year test without flooding, as so many of my other lamps have. I use it at night snorkeling in the Caribbean, so the light output on high has been fine. Just find a good deal on "C" batteries and have a great time.
Like the strap and the feel.

Good all-purpose light

Pros:
Reliable
Cons:
Heavy, Weak Beam
Best Uses:
Close-Up Viewing, Recreational
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, Shockwave II:

Lacks the punch needed for use as a primary light in night or cave diving, but does do a great job in illuminating micro life or for tickling those tucked away lobsters.
