Bought this because it was $10 cheaper than my UK C4LED, which I dropped on the bottom in 200' of water in Indonesia. I put some new rechargeable batteries in it to cycle them a few times, turned it on, and put it in a bowl of water in my kitchen so it wouldn't overheat as the batteries ran down. Four hours later, I opened it up and dumped out two tablespoons of water! NEVER had a leaky light before. Combined with the bogus lock on the switch, this light is a definite FAIL.

Light worked great but trigger lock fell off on the second dive. Light works without it so no big deal. Good solid light but compact in size.

Incorporates great with my ikelite housing....modeling light/primary illumination

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
I bought two Miniwave LED's for a deep dive and before actually using the lights, one of the lights "stop lever," which keeps the light from being accidently turned on broke in half. The other light malfunctioned from the inside at the screw which connects the lever that toggles the off, dim, and bright switch. Called Pricetion Tec and the service rep was so rude. I had to argue with him to take the lights back and replace them because of poor construction. As of now, Im still waiting for my new lights to arrive.

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
Light, good power, beam spreads nicely but not too much. I use it for wreck diving, night diving, black water diving, etc. I haven't owned it long enough to see about longevity but so far I am very pleased. A good buy for the bucks.

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
Looks like a great little light with lots of power for its size. I ordered two - both arrived broken, despite packaging looking fine. There is an external switch that rotates to move an internal slider switch. The slider switch came apart, leaving about six tiny parts bouncing around inside each light housing. Not a trivial job to reassemble and makes me worry about durability in use.
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
If you need a LED light, it is a real good choice.
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
Haven't gotten much use out of it so far but it really is a nice light. It's actually not too big and it's not heavy at all. It's very bright. i just wish it kept a steady beam instead of loosing intensity as you go. If you want it at it's brightest you must change batteries often.

Used it on 5 night dives - still going strong on original batteries!

Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
Good Light. Compact considering it holds 4 C-size batteries. However, due to the batteries, it is heavy; I've had to shed some lead in order to adjust my buoyancy.
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
Light output is equal to 8 celled version and greater than most other 4 cell lights except with shorter battery life than 8 cell models.
Battery life seems good.
Weight is lower than a comparable 8 cell light.

I was very happy. lots of complements on my light after dive. I recomend for all.
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
Used this light in my first dive in very tannic water (with very low light at 65 ft.) It did a great job of cutting through the water with a bright white, focused beam with little scatter (may look blueish in air, but not so much under the surface). I had the only LED and some friends at 35 ft. could see my light below them, but we didn't see any trace of them!!! I am suspicious of the switch, seems a little fragile, but as of now, it hasn't been a problem.

Used for night diving and on wall dive
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
With 150 lumens of screaming LED this mini light produces the best bang for your buck.
I dive with the smaller 47 lumens of LED as my backup and so they make a great pair.
I did my first night dive and really got compliments from other divers on what type of light I was using.
They liked the size and the power...

I don’t work for any of these guys I would never have written this if this wasn't so outrageous.
On December 31st 2007 around noon while diving at Octopus Hole in Hood Canal(Hoodsport,Washington) I lost my divelight while I was adjusting my camera.
I went back to look for it but was running LOW on air and had to give up, we looked a while.. ugh I hate losing stuff.
I had a DAN gear tag on it and figured someone would ultimately find it but I wasn't sure if they'd bother to call me.
On January 6th 2008 back in Cleveland,Oh. I received a phone call from a woman who said her husband had just found my light.
She was wondering when I lost it.
I told her a week ago.
There was a long long pause, I could hear other people talking.
She said her husband found my light.. he found it because the light was still on.
The water temp. was 43 degrees. and this light was still ON 6 days later!!!
I would normally use a lot of language here they wont let me use.
THIS IS AN AWESOME DIVELIGHT!
You would never believe how bright it was when I got it back. Check out the photo.
Marty
as I got it back
oh.. and great diving
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
I really like this light. Have used other C and D cell lights, but all are very large for my hands and bulky when retracted to use my camera. This stows well and the color and beam are great for seeking out critters at night.
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
Great bright light, nicely focused beam, good white color, and very easy on the batteries. I end up using the low setting a lot of the time when close up because it is so bright. I would never use a bulky 8 cell light again for any recreational dive. The only negative is the switch lock isn't a great design, but you get used to it.
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
I'd buy this light again.
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
This light is great! It is lighter in weight than its bigger brother the shockwave as it carries 4 x D cell batteries in comparison to the shockwave's 8. Its nice and compact for a primary light. It is quite powerful with 2 settings low and high. Comfortable to hold. The battery life is fantastic because it is LED. I find the LED is a brighter whiter light than the "Yellower" Halogen Light.
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
At 9 watts the Miniwave LED is a very bright 4c cell LED light. As bright as many with 8d cells and considerably less weight. Battery life for LED light of this type is excellent. No rechargable system is offered for this model but a set of NIMH cells would work well and probably not need recharging for a whole dive vacation.
The Tec 40 is a fine backup but I perfer LED lighting but the price of this combo was like getting the Tec 40 for free and still matched the competitions price for the Miniwave.
Recieved this light just before leaving on vacation and It was setup by boat crew before my dive. It was missing it's main O-ring but survived a hour long night dive without going out. Yes it flooded. But it was replaced under it's lifetime warranty.
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
I haven't used it in more than 120 feet, but it always has performed better than I'd hoped. It is light, nice to handle in the water and bright enough to illuminate under ledges and in tunnels when you are reasonably close. The little torch that comes with it is also fantastic - I can take as a backup, lend to a buddy or just use as a handy, bright torch. Great deal.
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
This light is light enough that you don't really notice it in the water, yet provides a steady, bright stream of light.
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
Nice light. Small but reasonably powerful. Good all around light. I did see a little moisture inside after a dive, but generally I think the seal is ok.
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
Bought this light for my girlfriend. She loves it.
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
I've been very happy with this light and have used it as my primary on night dives and wreck dives. Compared to it's big brother, the Shockwave LED, the MiniWave is more compact, lightweight, and convenient to carry on all dives.

i cut the handle off it and made a hand mount out of PVC, a hose clamp and a wrist strap. Presto, instant canister light without the cable, cost and failure points. [@]
pretty easy with a dremel tool

a great first timer light
Comments about Princeton Tec Princeton Tec, 2008 Miniwave LED:
LED give you better 'true' color compare to yellow light. I prefer 4 C batteries, I only replace 4 batteries when it comes necessary. Compare to 8C, it's bulky. It might last longer, but you need to replace 8 batteries at a time....
