I read several reviews that stated that this product had a problem with flooding. I just want to say that I have had a Super Sabre for ten years and have had it with me on many dives in the cold waters of the pacific northwest, dives ranging from 30 to 120 fsw. I lost it once at 119 feet and found it on a subsequent dive. It is still working great and have had no flooding issues. Of course we all know it screws down to turn off and not to turn it past the point of comming on. It will surely flood then. Great light.

use this on 10 dives up to 100ft, tropical and Canadian waters. I twist it on before descending, and keep it on my wrist with my lanyard. in daylight hours it does not provide much noticeable light, but works great for looking into holes and caves. It has a very focused beam much like a light saber from Star Wars, hence the product name.
i have never experienced a flood, leak, or even mild condensation with this light.

Bought six to use with a group of divers on vacation. Every single one flooded, two of them on the first dive without even being used. I have been using screw-down lights for 20 years and know what I am doing. These lights may be great on a boat, but I would never take one on a dive again.

The first time I used this light it flooded right away. On the surface befroe going under I showed it to a more experienced tech diver and he afffirmed that the twist on system was designed to prevent flooding. It didnt. The only way to prevent that is to turn it on before the dive and keep it on until back on the surface. That doesnt fill my idea of a back up light. I will be sendindg it back to Pelican and request a model with a switch .

The tray for the batteries is a weak point. The bottom is plastic and has a tendency to break if struck or dropped. Also, must be careful when loading new batteries or it will crack. On the other hand, the lifetime warranty service is great and they shipped replacement parts same day.

Best flashlight on the market. I don't go anywhere without the sabre 2000. Realiabilty is great. I know I can depend on this flashlight where ever I go. If you love flashlights this is defantly the one for you.

It appears this light was originally designed for a switch, rather than twist activation. The plug the manufacturer used to close the hole doesn't seal on the light I used. I notice bubbles comes from the failed seal during decent. Although the light continued to illuminate, it contained something less than a 1/2 cup of water after the dive.

This should be used as a back up light for those deep/night dives. Or can be used to light up little areas on shalow, day time dives. Good little light for the price.

I use this light on a day to day basis as a commercial diver. I have found that it will with stand almost any abuse. It floods easily if not sealed on surface, internal parts corode.

This is my primary dive light, and have logged ~60 dives with this light. Several dives past 100', with no problems in ~3 years. Highly recommended.

I've had one of these for 10 years. Its a great light if you need a waterproof light for boating, camping, military, etc. However, I took it diving to 100' twice and the first dive was fine, but I didn't turn the light on during that dive and it held up fine to the pressure. During the 2nd dive I used it and after surfacing, the end of the light exploded, because water had entered the light and mixed with the batteries. You have to twist the bezel to turn it on and off. So if you go a fraction of an inch too far while turning it on, a tiny amount of salt-water can enter your flashlight and it will mix and cause a reaction very quickly. Mine exploded a few minutes after getting into the dive boat and the end of my flashlight blew off and got battery acid all over the dive boat, my mask, and fellow diver's leg. True story, Not good! I called Pelican and they said its necessary to always turn this model on before diving and then turn it off back at the surface to ensure that no water leaks. That means that you'll have to turn the light on for a full dive, when you may only need it for 1 minute. Answer: If you're diving, buy the Pelican version with the switch. Then you'll have a great dive light. BTW, Pelican sent me a replacement light with no questions asked so their guarantee is great.
I now use a Princeton
Tec Torrent Xenon on my rig and it's done great to many dives at 100'. I turn it on and off all of the time underwater and I've had no problems.

Not at all impressed with this light. I have several Pelican "boxes" and couldn't be happier but the light isn't their best effort. Twist activation is tough with gloves on and you always wonder if you've turned it out too far when switching off. Beam wasn't particularly bright. Overall a poor purchase, in fact I left it on the dive boat because I didn't feel like carrying it home.
