Comments about Blue Reef Blue Reef Titanium Folding Knife:

Light weight would make a great travel dive knife 76 gram (2 5/8 oz) Stainless pins through grip non removable. Very sharp on delivery including serrated edge cuts well, line cutter required a touch up was dull. Some reviewers complained line cutter notch catches this was fixed by touching up edges with small file. I replaced cord for tougher line. Opens easily left or right handed just pinch notch in spine of blade between thumb and middle finger as it rotates out pop open with thumb. With gloves pinch line cutter or hook it on something and pull back. I intend to use it as a hiking knife on next walk. I also modified my TUSA Imprex knife replaced a part. Like to tinker till gear does exactly what I want.

Comments about Blue Reef Blue Reef Titanium Folding Knife:

I take this knife with me every time I dive and it is by far the most practical dive knife that I have owned. My previous two had scabbards that attached to the outside of the BC and both knives came out of their scabbards and were lost either entering or exiting the water after only several dives.
The lanyard is very handy - I attach it to a plastic spiral extender clipped on to my BC and the knife is light and small enough to then tuck into the BC pocket, out of the way but ready for use if required. This method also allows me to find the knife easily - I just find the spiral extender and run my fingers up the lanyard. After over 100 dives I've never had a problem with it getting caught inside the BC pocket.
It is simple to open and close even with gloves, although I only use 2mm tropical gloves (occasionally) so can't speak for thicker gloves.
It is very sharp and certainly looks functional but I have never had to use it for real and hopefully never will.

Comments about Blue Reef Blue Reef Titanium Folding Knife:

I keep this knife with my rig in a pocket that I made for it. I have only had to use it a few times, but I am always glad it is there. It is very sharp (I got 7 stitches, my fault) and has no rust on it at all after 100+ salt water dives. I would give it 5 starts if it werent for the line cutter which can catch when trying to pull it out of a pocket.

Comments about Blue Reef Blue Reef Titanium Folding Knife:

This is an extremely sharp knife. Excellent price. Made with good quality parts. I have been diving many times with this knife and had no problems with it so far. The blade locks securely in place when opened. The supplied tether is a nice touch.

I do have a safety concern in that the very tip of the line cutter on the backside of the blade protrudes slightly above the housing when folded. The line cutter can can catch on or punture your BC if stored in a pocket. As a result they should have a custom built pouch for this knife to keep it secure and prevent injury or damage to your equipment when reaching for it. I am still looking for a pouch in which to cary this knife in and attach it to the outside of my BC. I have given it 2 stars only as a means to warn readers of this possibility.

I would give this knife five stars if not for issue of the line cutter, the cheap clip attached to the blade housing and the fact that you have to remove a glove to open it.

Removing the line cutter on the backside of the knife would be a great improvement since it is not really necessary. This knife will cut with the best of them.

Comments about Blue Reef Blue Reef Titanium Folding Knife:

I purchased this knife as a gift for a VERY choosy dive master. He was pleased with the quality, weight, features and size. Perfect for his BCD pocket. He states the titanium ensures it will last for years. I thought it needed a case and he said that would delay a quick response when needed.

Comments about Blue Reef Blue Reef Titanium Folding Knife:

Fortunately, I have never had to use this for anything other than tapping on my tank to get someone's attention. It has a fearsome looking blade that is nicely kept safely away in the grip when folded. As advertised, it showed no signs of corrosion or degradation after repeated contact with salt water. I hope that I never have to use it but it is a comfort to know that I have it ready to go!

Comments about Blue Reef Blue Reef Titanium Folding Knife:

My wife and I had stainless folding knives on our bc's. .. even though they were SS they still developed rust from salt water. After each trip I would have to grind it off with a dremel.

I bought one of these for myself... On our last trip my wife's SS knife rusted so badly that it wouldn't open- but my Blue Reef titanium looked like new. Now we both have one!

For the price, the quality is extremely good. Compared to other titaniums, this knife is a bargain. It was actually cheaper than the now-ruined stainless knife.

Great blade and convenient. I like the folding action but it would be nice to have a thumb pin for opening especially with gloves. The clip is very flimsy and will break off if stressed at all. Over all it is functional and worth the price.

Stowes well in the small front zipper pocket of my Black Diamond BC. Cuts through kelp like, well, a warm knife through butter. Don't need that feature very often but when I do the knife works perfectly. Little or no maintance required.

Perfect stuffer for a BC pocket
By Chymos45Verified Purchaser from landlocked in ATL, GA on 11/8/2007
Pros:
Almost maintenance free, Comfortable Grip, Durable, Functional, Sharp Blade, VERY light weight
Cons:
Sharp line cutter TIP, Tough to use with gloves
Best Uses:
Perfect back up knife, SCUBA Diving
Describe Yourself:

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Blue Reef Blue Reef Titanium Folding Knife:

The TIP on the line cutter could be a little less sharp - worry about bladder puncture on BC because tip is exposed.
Heavy gloved hands will have a difficult time opening the knife.

Comments about Blue Reef Blue Reef Titanium Folding Knife:

I am using this knife as a redundant backup. As a backup its great. Would not use as my only knife because is has to unfolded. I prefer a straight solid knife for primary. The action is smooth and crisp. The blade locks in place firmly. Because it is a folding blade it could be hard to open with a glove.

I'm not the type of person who spends [$] on a knife to cut a wad of fishing line or piece of kelp. [$] knives are for slicing filet mignon in gourmet restaurants! :) This is a good, light weight, affordable knife. It's titanium so it won't rust. A good choice...
