Good Case - Typical Shears
By Neil D.Verified Purchaser from Hudson, NH on 5/30/2009
Pros:
Belt loop on back, Comfortable Grip, Functional, Sharp Blade, Works Well With Gloves
Best Uses:
Rescue Diving, SCUBA Diving
Describe Yourself:
Advanced Diver
Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Comments about Aqua Blue Reef "Shears" Cutter with Holster:

The sheas are the same as you can buy anywhere for a couple dollars less so you are really buying these for the case. The case is made well with a velcro closure, plastic loop top, and a belt loop on the back. I removed the large, plastic loop to avoid entanglement - the belt loop on the rear is a better way to secure it. Either way, it is worth the extra few bucks.

Excellent Alternative to a Dive Knife

Comments about Aqua Blue Reef "Shears" Cutter with Holster:

My wife is not a big fan of dive knives and this is a great alternative. Being an RN she is very comfortable and skilled with this type of shears. The case does lack suffecient attachnent points for your BC, but solved this problem with the use of wire/cable ties.

Comments about Aqua Blue Reef "Shears" Cutter with Holster:

Knives are good for camping. If you found yourself entangled in fishing net these are the best tool to cut it. It will easily handle synthetic nets as well as 1/16 in steel cable. I mounted mine on the right shoulder strap with two zip ties.

One negative thing: The center pin isn't stainless. It will rust after your first dive.

Comments about Aqua Blue Reef "Shears" Cutter with Holster:

This is my second pair of EMT shears. First pair was Zeagle. It seems every maker fails to use a stainless rivet and these rust through after a couple of years and you're left with two disconnected blades! And you never know exactly when they're going to fall apart. Note to manufacturers: make the rivet stainless steel and I'll pay $5 more!

It's a good pair, not junk

Comments about Aqua Blue Reef "Shears" Cutter with Holster:

Just the tool for snipping line, netting and other things that are hard to cut with your dive knife. It's a good complement to a classic dive knife and gives you a second cutting tool if you are ever entangled or need to perform a rescue. It equips you to get a distressed diver out of the gear PDQ and to do so safely. I even borrow them for home chores they cut so good!

I mount mine on my waist belt. doesn't affect mobility whatsoever. The pocket is not cheaply made. Very durable as a matter of fact. The shears can cut through any line I sould possibly get entangled in.

Not all stainless, pivot rusts quickly
By NotAgainVerified Purchaser from Chicago, IL on 5/7/2008
Pros:
Comfortable Grip, Functional, Includes holster, Sharp Blade, Works Well With Gloves
Cons:
Rusts quickly
Best Uses:
Home
Describe Yourself:
Beginner
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Comments about Aqua Blue Reef "Shears" Cutter with Holster:

After 6 days of diving (Little Cayman Island), the pivot connection on the shears was rusted. Its not possible to adequately dry them to prevent rust, and the material that is used for the pivot does not appear to be stainless steel, as thats the only part that did rust. The holster was the best part of the item. Easily slid a strap on the BCD through the holster's belt loop to carry it along on dives, just wish there was a less rustable shears.

Useful Tool
By BigBenVerified Reviewer from Gulf Breeze, FL on 3/5/2008

Comments about Aqua Blue Reef "Shears" Cutter with Holster:

These fit nicely into a BC pocket and are a good tool to have in case of a tangle, but after just one dive with them the bolt that holds the blades together already has some rust on it. I think my next set will be titanium, if they have those.

Comments about Aqua Blue Reef "Shears" Cutter with Holster:

Put this on my BC across from the knife. It pays to have a back up in your service triangle. Secured it with parachute cord around the handle. So I should never drop it.

Service & Delivery comments:

Got here in time to make my current dive. What more could I ask?

The sheath holder didn't fit well on my BC. I now carry it in a BC pocket, which is fine, but isn't as convenient as I'd like.
