Bought this bag a few years ago and love the fact my husband and I can both pack in one bag. It's traveled all over with us and is still in great shape. However, with all the airline baggage changes, seems we'll have to retire it. We are going on a trip in a few weeks and found out the dimensions of the bag now fall into the oversize luggage category which means an extra $150 fee to check it.
This is a very strong bag with lots of room for everything you could want would recomend to anyone looking for a good bag.
A really nice bag that has pretty much everything you will ever never need.. I can fit all my gear and most of my girlfriend's fear in it, although if you have large BC's you won't be able to fit both. Most divers I see in boats have this bag, which means is definitely one of the best products around.
Good size bag with the size to accomodate all of my scuba gear with the exception of the tank. Bag also appears to be very sturdy and well constructed.
Great bag that holds everything I need for a trip.
This is an excellent bag with a large capacity. I am a dive master in Maine so with the cold water here I am packing a lot of gear for a dive. This bag allows me to organize my gear and makes getting my gear on more efficient which gives me more time to deal with students or customers.

My husband and I had been shopping our local dive shop for luggage to tote our equipment around in. And the prices we found to be expensive. I found this on leisurepro and was not sure if it was going to be big enough to house all of our stuff. Then checking with our local dive shop again and the dimensions of the bags that they carried, the one I found on leisurepro was bigger than the one in store! So we bought two right away. And these things were huge. We went diving for the first time with this bag and all of our stuff fit into one bag. 2 sets of fins, 3 masks,2 3mm wet suits, 1 7mm wet suit, 2 pairs of boots, 2 pairs of gloves, 2 hoods, 2 regulator set ups and 2 BCD's. Yes it was tight but I didn't have to sit on the bag to zip it up. So it wasn't to tight. Any way this bag rolls so easy and has a telescoping handle or a regular luggage handle also a handle on the bottom for easy lifting up to a table or tailgate or what have you. And last but not least the backpack option that it has is the best. A pair of fins fit into either fin pocket on the sides. And spacious front pockets on the front can fit lots of extras. It also has a nice regulator bag and a bag I found hidden in a back pocket that the whole big bag can fit into with cut outs for the wheels and then it sinches up. I am un sure why but I did use it to keep wet wet suits separated during the trip home. I really like the heavy duty zippers and the thick material that the bag is made of. I almost went to [...] for some cheep luggage, I am glad I shopped around! Highly recommended.
It works great as a roller, but way too big/clunky and uncomfortable as a backpack. It is much lighter in weight than appears w/out sacrificing durability.
Nice regulator bag. Large, compartments, stands upright on it's own.
Very good product. Looking forward to be using it over the years.
All of my gear fits in the bag perfectly. Before I bought it, my fiance has one and we were able to put all of his gear and most of mine it the bag. We bought a seperate one me to carry my gear when traveling. Perfect to carry gear on shore dives!
great bag, tough.
I boutht this for my wife. Her bag broke down after three years. My Akona bag is 5 years old, sun bleached and scuffed, but I will still put it through an air port check-in, and it all works. Great wheels, severial bags in the past broke wheels, this one hasen't
Great product. Just the right size for cold water diving or two warm water divers packing all their gear together.
You can easily exceed airline weight limits with this bag as it is huge and room enough for two full sets of dive gear. Great bag otherwise.
I've had this bag for 4+ years. It easily holds 2 BCDs, 2 regulators, two 3mm wetsuits, 2 pairs fins, 2 masks, dive lights, extra batteries, and an underwater camera case. Problem is it then weighs 80+ pounds. I'm always overpacking it, having to take out the extra shoes, the weight pockets, and other odds and ends in the airport line to get the bag onto the plane. So you really need 1 bag per person.I wouldn't pack anything I care about in the external pouches on the top of the bag. Also, once you do load it, it becomes top heavy and tends to fall over. The first bag I bought had to be returned; the zipper to the main compartment broke after the first trip. [...]
this is a great bag for all my gear
Very good bag. I have used this product on my last vacation to Mexico and could packed all my diving equipment plus all personal items. Really good and reliable product, just be careful with its capacity you can easy overload it and pay for over weight
I have been diving for 12+ years and done lots of boat trips and travel trips. I have always been amazed how long the bags I have owned in the past lasted but I decided it was time for a new bag so I decided to try Akona (same parent company as Sherwood).
While the design is fine the material is the really bad. Looks good until you take your first trip. For some reason this material is VERY prone to split and cut rather than get some light abrasion. I predict this bag will fall apart in 1-2 years of light dive travel, which I find unacceptable which is why I give it only 1 start.
Stay way bag is made of POOR material!
bag is sweet for sure
I am looking forward to using this for traveling to my diving destinations
The seperate compartments for fins and regulator etc are great. The two sets of straps in the main compartment are perfect as you can strap your BC down and it won't move or shift. The net compartment on the main compartment cover is perfect for storing my 3mil full wetsuit and keeping it seperate. I can't imagine a better bag.
Nice and very functional design. Durable and large enough to carry all your gear plus share gear. Lot's of pockets. Excellent for transporting gear on planes.
Large capacity and easy to move

Great bag, enough room to fit all equipment less a tank. Think twice about flying with it though, as I was unable to put my reg in that bag and stay within the 50lb weight limit. Also, it cannot stand up straight like the picture implies, it is front heavy, usually falling over.
Very practical for organizing all of your gear with shoulder straps for easily getting up and down stairs, inclines, etc. The large wheels make rolling this a breeze.

This gear bag is... BIG! If you need to drag 100 lbs. of gear thru an airport this is it... just get ready to start pulling stuff out at check-in.(50 lb limit) Modular packing is my trick... Put a small bag inside that you can check seperatly then when you pick it up a baggage claim put it all back together and ROLL ON!! It comes with a cover that is made to protect the bag from the handlers but all it does it keep the corners looking good... this bag is tough enough by itself. I've used it many times and have not been let down. Oh yeah... when you get home and everything is dry. Load it up and roll it in the gear room.
I have two bags, one for me and one for my wife. We have taken them to Cozumel and Japan. They still look like new. Be careful not to put too much in them, they have plenty of room to over pack and exceed the weight limit. They are great for transport but you may find them a little too big for boat use depending on the size of the boat.
It is big enough for all my gear, but not so big that everything just falls to the bottom of the bag. Lots of extra pockets included on the bag, which are great for stowing small and medium items. Perfect size for taking on dive boats, at least for me.
Would Highly recommend
Good case, got a 7 mil full suit plus farmer jane suit, and bc,fins, boots, 2 hoods, some extra stuff and reg set, so has plenty of room, but the zippers broke 1st time out, and they take up alot of room, you dont have seperate spot for dry stuff, and wet stuff, so everything gets wet, so depends on what you need the case for
takes all my gear and then some.
Akona has put together a great product for divers. It is very versitile, rugged, and built for the tough job of handling SCUBA gear in rough environments. Its large capacity will accomidate all that is needed for a single diver for any trip and room to spare. Thanks Akona!
Three months after I had bought this bag I was still finding new pockets and features. There are only 1 or 2 flaws. I have not heard this with anyone else who owns the bag, but with one of my weals the bolt that goes through came unscrewed and it is very hard to get it back on. i had the roller handle stick once but never again. other than that it holds a lot of gear and is easy to use.
Not as Rugged as I had hoped
Holds alot
Nicely designed unit. When in use as a backpack could use a waist strap.
I've taken this bag to Hawaii twice and Mexico once and know that it was abused, but, it still looks brand new.
very nice. I was able to put all my gear in the bag and also my clothes for the trip.
price is higher then the other ones but you get what you pay for
Great bag for travel but too big for use on a boat. The security sleeve was destroyed on the first trip. It needs to be made of thicker material.

Excellent bag,can be used for all gear that a couple needs. outer cover is thin nylon and was easily torn by airport conveyors but bag itself is tough and holds up nicely to travel.
I have to say that one of the biggest turn off of diving for me is hauling all the equipment and then packing it up afterwards but with this bag it really took alot of the work out of it and made coming and going from a great day of diving enjoyable too.
This is my third Akona travel bag (I still have the others - smaller versions... better for boat diving, etc.). These are the easiest bags to use in my opinion. The pockets are user friendly. The important gear can be easily protected in the middle of the bag. The bag tends to stay upright even when packed. The wheels move effortlessly. Even the toughest baggage handlers have difficulty breaking things off of this bag.
This bag is very well made. The handle and wheels are very sturdy. The one major drawback is it's weight. Empty, it weighs about 15lbs, and with one set of tropical gear, minimal clothing for a week vacation and toiletries I was at 54lbs so had to check a separate bag in order to get under 50lbs.
I am the above avergae size diver and my wife is smaller than average (the 2 do not average out to fit all the gear and weigh in too heavy for airplanes)
I use the bag to transport gear to the resorts, but too big for a boat, it is tough, BUT the first use the plane crew busted part of the zipper (still using it tough).

What I like about this bag is the big size. I keep all my gear in a wheeled XScuba mesh boat bag, which then fits right inside of this Akona bag. I could not find any other bags that allow me to pack my wheeled mesh boat bag inside of.
This is a good bag for pakcing all your gear into for going through airports. Even with all my gear and wheeled boat bag, I'm weighing in at the 50lb mark. On my last dive trip, one of the zippers got ripped off of the luggage, so they are not indestructable. Sometimes this bag falls over on its face if bumped, not quite balanced right. Still a good bag, but I'm going to take a look at Akonas new 07 line.
In the way on diveboats ok for travel through airports and on and off cruise ships - easy for airport inspectors to go through would recommend as air travel bag but not for taking gear to dive boat
We use this for transporting our dive gear when flying. It protects everything wonderfully. It's really too big for the boats, so we use another bag that folds/compacts to carry stuff on the dive boat.
This is a good gear bag. It is large enough for all of your gear. As one of the other review states, it is a bit too big for a dive boat. I've taken it on several dive boats and it camn be done, but gets in the way sometimes. This bag is very well made and seems indestructable. The only other con to this bag is the regulator bag. It's a bit small and it's not paded.
wont stand on its own with filled with gear.too large for boats
I actually borrowed this bag from friends for a Dive Trip to Hawaii and it worked great! He told me it was indestructible and he was right. I liked it so much I bought one for myself and one for my wife.
