Questions about this item:
wally j do you reccomend having a dive shop change the battery or is it something routinly done by owners?
JEFFREY O The unit comes with the tool needed to change the battery. It is a very simple process. You must read the instructions in the manual before you attempt this as the new battery must be installed within 8 seconds in order to maintain your stored data.
LORI F The owner can be do by him self.
JOSEPH P Changing the battery takes just a minute. Tool is provided and batteries are available everywhere.
Could not be easier.
R L User can change. Unit comes with a "key" to open up the battery compartment in the back. Uses a standard battery used in cameras, etc.
manolis p Does this computer have a digital compass?
MONICA B No, it does not have an onboard compass. I find the small clip on compasses more convienent anyway as you have to calibrate digital compasses far more frequently than you would think ( I had one on a Sunnto D6).
CHRISTIAN B No, this watch does not have a compass. I have logged about 50 dives with my computer and absolutely love it. My only complaint is that the audible alarm is not loud enough. Apart from this, the computer is fantastic.
NICK T No digital compass. But other wise a great computer. I have seem many different types of computers with a digital compass, and they are constantly needing to be re calibrated, so save your self the extra $150 or so on the computer and buy a normal compass
MICHAEL G No, this watch does not have a digital compass.
Shopper How do I install the lens cover film? It says somewhere, that the button cover shell must be removed before installing the film. Is that right? Should I do it with a flat screwdriver?
TODD F Not sure what the button cover shell is, but I assume this is something that comes with the packaging. When I installed the lens film cover, I just peeled back a small portion of the backing and made sure it was centered and then peeled the backing off as I applied the clear lens cover. No screwdriver needed. Make sure you have it centered, because if you try to lift it up once it's been applied you will ruin it.
RICHARD S Sorry I don't really understand. I don't remember there being a film. Some kind of protective thing? Please ask Leisure Pro or Oceanic.
Sorry.
RICHARD R I did not recall removing anything other than the packaging wrap prior to applying the lens cover film. The cover film applied easily and adherently without a problem; have used the watch on over 30 dives with zero complaints. Good luck. Suggest you not use any screwdriver.
TAO C i just stuck it on top of the watch face, it fits without removing anything
ALVARO B Not by your discription.
Film goes directly on the glass. peel film gently from paper and apply centered on glass face.
ALVARO B Follow the instruction provided only. Not just something read somewhere.
The lens cover film should be a thin rubber/plastic used as a coating over the glass face. Similar to what is used for IPADs and Androids to help prevent or limit scratches on the actual glass. The film usually arrives on a brown paper/platsic disk that would fit perfectly across the glass face. Gently peel the film from the paper and apply directly on the OUTER glass face of the watch.
NO SCREWDRIVER is necessary.
Shopper how knew made in usa?
KIM L It says so on the Oceanic web site.
R L I do not know.

Great little computer
Shopper Does this computer have a transmitter? Can you upload data to a Mac?
LIZA K It does not have a transmitter. You can't download the info.
JOSEPH M This unit does NOT have a transmitter it is NOT air integrated don't know about the Mac question
SEAN C There is no transmitter - this is not an air integrated computer.
i see no option for a Mac version of the Oceanlog software on the Oceanic website. However it is possible that software exists from a third party.
SHAWN J It does not have an air integrated transmitter, that would be the Atom 3.0 or other models. It can be hooked in to your mac via USB and the dive profiles uploaded to your computer. I really like the software package MacDive. It is really slick, and at $25 is a great bargain. It also allows you to sync to the iOS app Dive Log if you want it on your iPhone or iPad.
Shopper Thanks for the answers so far. I guess I have to be a little bit more specific regarding my question (What will the display show if you exceed 100 meters in dive mode?):
In the specs of the GEO 2.0 it's stated that the operational depth in 'dive mode' is 100 meters and in 'gauge mode' 120 meters.
What if I will dive till 110 meters in dive mode. Will the GEO 2.0 continue calculating the decompression time or will it stop operating? In other words exceeding 100 meters will cause the computer to fail and all data regarding decompression is lost.
DENNIS M I would think this is a question for Oceanic itself. If you dive to 100M or better you may be the only one doing so with this type of computer or any conventional computer. At that depth anyway I would believe you would be on "Voodoo Gas" (Trimix) exclusively. This computer will only calculate air and "Nitrox".
ANDREW K The computer will enter decompression mode if you exceed any of the NDC limits it calculates. For more details about decompression mode see the manual on Oceanic's website
Shopper What will the display show if you exceed 100m in dive mode?
THOMAS B Can't answer as I have not tested that feature, it is an adjustable alarm, 30 - 330ft in 10ft increments. I would anticipate "DA" for Deep Alarm to show on the third line of the display in addition to the audible and red LED.
Sorry don't have better answer.
STEPHEN W When I dove the Blue Hole in Belize I seem to recall that it did display depth beyond 100 feet because our dive operator logged our max depth after each dive and I was able to tell them that it was 134 feet.
MARK E I'm sorry, but if you mean 300 feet, I do not know the algorithm/computer response. If you mean 100 feet, the display will continue to monitor normal diving functions and give the appropriate read-outs. If you exceed NDL limits, the computer will go into decompression mode and display instructions for a safe ascent. Hope this helps. I use the Geo 2.0 as a backup computer and it is easy to read and understand all readouts.
Julio M Do you recommend this model or suunto d6 instead?
KEVIN A I have never seen the d6 but I know suunto makes good computers. I like this one because it is small but still large enouge to read easily. The only suunto computers were very high profile, it looked like a hockey puck
BRIAN C Both are VERY good computers. Personally, I found the learning curve on the GEO rather steep (the instructions are not very well written. I had to do a lot of guessing and looking on the internet to find answers about this computer). Once you know how to use the GEO, it is simple from there on out. I have never heard anyone complain about Suunto, or getting familiar about their computers. So, I would recommend them about equally.
Julio M Thanks very much!!
Julio M Anyone know about the altittude especifications for this model?
Thanks.
JEFFREY S Go to the Oceanic Website/support/manuals and you can download the PDF.
Julio M Thanks very much Jefrey!
Julio M Sorry, i read the answer to this question down on this page.
Shopper I read in the reviews about a strap extensions in order to use it over a wetsuit. Does it come with the computer or is it have to be bought separate?
CHRISTIAN B I bought the Oceanic Geo 2.0 last year and I have really enjoyed it. I have logged about 15 dives with it and am very pleased with the item. When you order the Oceanic Geo 2.0, it will come with the strap extension so that you can use it with a wetsuit. I find that with my wetsuit (3mm), I do not need it, but it is nice to have if I were to step up to a thicker suit.
WILLIAM B When I bought mine, the extender strap was included in the box.
THOMAS B A larger wrist band was included.
DANIEL S The computer comes with an extra watch band which can be hooked into the existing band to make it twice as long. So, yes it does come with the ability to make the band longer. Side note: Mine fits over my 7mm wetsuit with the standard watch band, I didn't need to extend it. LeisurePro also sales cheap nylon velcro wrist bands to replace the stock band which allow for a larger range of sizes.
MICHAEL P It came with the computer
TIMOTHY T It came with the computer.
C SCOTT D Sorry, this was a gift so I cannot answer your question with certainity.
KAVEH N I bought my GEO 2.0 wrist dive computer in Summer 2010. If nothing has changed, it will come with a strap extension that you can clip on to the standard strap
VALERIANO B It's included in the box, you don't have to buy it separately.
LOUIS M It came with mine. However, the original strap fits OK over my 3mm suit; will depend on your wrist size.
STEVEN S Yes it comes with a strap extention, but I am in Florida and only use a shorty with short sleeves
Steve
WILLIAM B That depends on your wrist size and thickness of suit. I have medium wrist size and fits easy over a 5mm wetsuit for instance. I recommend the computer, the manual is not so intuitive so do the online course.
SHAWN J It comes with the wrist extension. I generally don't need it with a thin wet suit, but larger than 3mm may require it.
ANDREW K It comes with the strap extension.
TAE H Does this one also shows depth in meters?
People where i live use meter system..not feet system..
DYLAN S It's fully compatible imperial/metric. You can changed the settings in the menu system.
ANDREW B Yes, it can be programed to either Metric or Imperial.
PAUL H Yes. There is a setting for both imperial and metric units.
SEONG-HWAN L Meters and feet, I can choose. :)
Shopper Is this computer altitude dive compatible?
Julio M Can you adjust manually?
LeisurePro S Yes, the Geo 2.0 has automatic altitude adjustment from 2,000 - 14,000 ft.
Shopper Will it track surface interval?
LeisurePro S Yes, the Geo 2.0 tracks surface time.
Shopper Is the software Mac/Apple compatible?
LeisurePro S The oceanic software is not Mac compatible, but you can still use with Geo 2.0 with the Oceanic PC transfer cable and by downloading MacDive, a third party software program for Macs.
Shopper What are the main diferences with the original GEO?
LeisurePro S The GEO 2.0 has a stainless steel accent ring and new color combination ? and now includes Dual Algorithm, Deep Stop option and the "Step Back" feature? which allows forward and backward navigation through menus and settings. Additionally, a second Nitrox mix (both programmable to 100%) is available, as well as Firmware Auto-Update.
Shopper Why Did You Choose This?
KEVIN A Lots of features for good price
VALERIANO B Excellent. Good price, good quality, has everything I needed.
RICHARD A Confusing operation but, after becoming familiar with functions, works very well. BUT, it will reset the Nitrox mix to "Air" if set more than 2 hours prior to your dive AND this is not mentioned anywhere in the tutorials that I could find.
