Questions about this item:
Shopper I don't want to check my "Lady Hawk" BC or my regulator. Fins, mask, shortie wet suit can go in my checked luggage. Packed with only the BC and reg. can this bag be used as a carry on for airplane travel?
DANIEL S The bag, fully packed, would be a little tall/long for carry-on. If your BC is not too tall and still allows the bag to be folded/squashed down on top, it should be good for a carry-on.
DORIS B I think it would be a little hard to use as a carry-on as it just has a string to hold on to.
DANIEL S ? Mine has "backpack" straps
GREGG O if all you put in the bag is reg and bc you may be able to fold it up enough to meet the size requirements for carry-on. check the airline website for crry-on dimensions.
We put our reg in a padded case and then pack all our gear into a sofside duffle bag. The fins are on the outer edges and the padded case is in the BC
We have not any problems wih this method since we started doing it this way six years ag
DOUGLAS S Maybe. It depends how big your BCD is and how strict the airline is about fitting it into that little test cage they have at the gate. This is a fairly large bag - great for the dive boat. It holds all my equipment with room to spare. And it is pretty heavy duty. Even though it is mesh it is a heavy mesh, with a heavy vinyl bottom and a good sized canvas pocket on the outside. So it is not going to easily compress down like a soft mesh bag will. It's a great bag, but I personally would not try to take it carry-on.
JOHN H depends on when you load your equipment will the bag be over 22 inches long, 14 inches wide and 9 tall = I always check my equipment
DOUGLAS G I do believe it will fit through the size screening device when packed as you say. There are no other restrictions that i know of that relate to bringing those items on-board in the cabin with you. I carry my regulator in my carry on all the time, but pack my BC in a suitcase, along with my XS Scuba dive bag. Great dive bag. It has survived many trips and lots of stuffing.
CRAIG H I SUPPOSE SO, BUT NORMALLY ONLY 1 STANDARD CARRY-ON IS ALLOWED. I PACKED MY BC, FINS, WET SUIT, ETC IN WITH MY CHECKED BAG AND PUT MY REGULATOR, COMP, PRESCRIPTION MASK, ETC. IN MY CARRY-ON COMPUTER BACKPACK THAT FIT UNDER SEAT AND PUT 'NORMAL' CARRY-ON BAG IN OVERHEAD. THE MESH BAG WAS INSIDE OF A WHEELED ( WITH BACKPACK HARNESS) SCUBA GEAR BAG THAT WAS LARGE ENOUGH FOR ALL MY OTHER SCUBA GEAR AND SOME ADDITIONAL CLOTHES AND TRAVEL NEEDS. ONCE OFF THE PLANE, MY BACK PACK WITH REGULATOR AND COMPUTER WENT ON MY BACK OR ON THE EXTENDED HANDLE OF THE THE CARRY-ON (WITH WHEELS -ALSO WITH BACKPACK HARNESS); AND THE CHECKED 'SCUBA GEAR" BAG PULLED ALONG WITH MY WHEELED CARRY-ON. CARRYING THE MESH BAG AROUND (OTHER THAN TO AND FROM THE BOAT) WOULD SEEM TO BE A HASSLE.
STEVEN H Hi, I think it will work once you fold it around your gear. When I pack mine, with everything in, it would be to big. Great bag though, the backpack part of it comes in handy.
Steve.
LAWRENCE J Good question. I have thought of using the bag as a carry-on, but, the bag is very big. It would have to be only partially full to comply with the size restrictions for carry-ons. It's a great bag.
MAYSHAN G It's a wonderful bag but much too large for a carry-on.
STEVEN J It would depend on the final size after all the equipment is in the bag. It is a very good possibility that it would meet the size requirements.
Very good bag though!
Shopper Is this bag small enough to carry on a plane (loaded w/BC, Reg, Fins, Mask, Etc..)?
JOHN H No - i carry all the items you mentioned in this pack, however when I travel with it to Mexico - I put this pack imn a large duffel bag. Loaded up the BC takes alot of room, along with the regulator, mask and fins - I cannot image it being allowed as a carry one. My loaded bag inside the duffel weighs around 35 lbs.
Other than that the bag is adequate in side and convienent to carry around / onto the boat as a back pack.
Hope this helps - happy diving
John
DAVID A it is ok if it is only half loaded. pretty big bag with everything in it.
really nice bag though. I usually just back it folded in my rolling duffel and use it for beach dives etc. pretty heavy duty.
ADRIANE M Unless you had very small travel-based dive equipment, this bag fully loaded with your dive gear would be too large to bring on the plane as a carry on.. This is a great bag though for getting your gear to dive sites and I always pack in along on trips.
PATRICK C I fly with mine. It's too big to carry on so you'll have to check it.
JAMES C Not really, much too big to be a carry on. I do use it as checked luggage though. It has held up to hundreds of dive trips without a single problem.
DANIEL S Especially with the load you describe, this wiil be too large for a carry-on.
CRAIG P The bag is quite spaceous, so stuffed with all your gear would be pushing the limit for carryon.
Shopper Can I fit into this bag the complete gear? Including BCD, fins, mask, regulator etc..??
ERIC S I think it might all fit in. Its a large bag, and its very well made and rugged. I recommend it, but can't confirm if the BCD would fit in, but I think so.
KURT J Yes, you should be able to. I used this bag for two sets of masks, fins, snorkels and there was room to spare.
Silvana P Thank you very much for all your responses!! I will buy it :)
DORIS B Yes, it is very roomy. And the side zipper makes it really easy to use and retrieve your gear. I am very happy with this bag! My sister has one and loves it too.
CRAIG H YES. BUT IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE PACKING A HEAVY WET-SUIT (5 OR MORE) THEN IT FILLS UP PRETTY QUICKLY AND PACKING AND UNPACKING TAKE A BIT LONGER.. ALTHOUGH THE BAG HOLDS A LOT, IT CAN BE OVERFILLED (TOO HEAVY) EASILY AND PICKING IT UP CAN BECOME DIFFICULT. HAVE NOT HAD ANY ISSUES WITH BAG CONSTRUCTION. SEEMS THAT STITCHING AND MATERIALS HOLD UP WELL.. CLEANS AND DRYS QUICKLY AND EASILY. EVEN WITH ALL MY REGULAR GEAR AND A WET SUIT I WAS ABLE TO PACK AN EXTRA MASK, BOOTS, GLOVES,TOOL KIT, LARGE TOWEL, SET OF LIGHT WEIGHT PANTS/SHIRT. GOT HEAVY, BUT NOT TOO BAD. ITS NOT A BACK-PACK. BUT REASONABLY COMFORTABLE FOR A MILE OR SO. A BASIC BAG, YES; BUT IT DOES THE JOB.
RICHARD M yes, absolutely
STEVEN C Yes. I fit a 7mm suit, booties, gloves, hood, BC, mask/snorkle, fins, reg/gauge into the bag. It's a bit tight, but it works great.
SHERRI V My husband and I both have one and everything we need fits in them. They are great for getting your gear on and off of a boat!
Shopper Will this bag carry two sets of fins, booties, mask and snorkel?
LeisurePro S Yes, this should be fine with room to spare.
Shopper Does the top of this backpack close up with a zipper so it can be checked as luggage onto the airplane?
LeisurePro S It does not zip at the top, it is a draw string which I would not recommend to check in. Here is an alternative mesh bag that will close with a zipper, the XS Scuba Deluxe Mesh Duffel
