The UK HID Light Cannon is a very intense blue light beam with a long burn time. I used the light for the first time on a recent dive trip where I did four very long night dives with no reduction in beam intensity. It's a great HID primary dive light for recreational diving and at a reasonable price. See the picture of a Basket Star I found on my night dive while using the UK Light Cannon.

Everything the folks are saying about this light being powerful is true. For the money, this is a blazing hot light cannon at 450 lumens output. (buy lots of batteries) Unfortunately, however, the cheap plastic inner switch (pictured) can loosen quite easily as it pivots around a simple phillips screw when you turn the light off / on. The net effect is that the loosened inner switch does not follow the outer switch (also pictured) as you move it from Off to On position. You will be in total darkness without warning. And don't try shaking your baby back to life or trepidly rotating the switch around… When it’s done – it’s done.So if you should happen to find yourself in a cave filled with strong surge and needle sharp sea urchins - and your buddy decides to take off in another direction looking for lobsters - that's a bad time to realize that you have an expensive UK Light Cannon 100 with a crummy [$] cent plastic inner switch in it. That switch will make up it's own mind when it decides to stop contacting your fresh new batteries. That Wow-Factor of, "Hey Cool! - I have an awesome new flashlight toy!" could become seriously trumped by that "Holy cow - I'm about to die" feeling. Don’t worry, your light will start working again if you make it back to your car, open the seal, and move the inner switch around with your finger.Bet your life on a [$] piece of plastic that is impossible to tighten with a normal screwdriver? I'll be spending the extra money on an upgrading to a DIR compliant Tektite, Halcyon, or OMS product.

Comments about Underwater Kinetics "Light Cannon" HID Dive Light with Pistol Grip:

the new light cannon led is just as bright. they no longer have or sell these at leisur pro so order this one and they will send you the led for the same price . I think it is their way to get around minimum selling price.

Comments about Underwater Kinetics "Light Cannon" HID Dive Light with Pistol Grip:

After reading other reviews I purchased this torch and have not been dissapointed. With the group of people I dive with, my torch is by faw and away the most powerful. The only con I see with this torch is the on/off switch, it feels like it could break at any time.

Comments about Underwater Kinetics "Light Cannon" HID Dive Light with Pistol Grip:

It light up the water better than any light at its price. People were following me. However the manual/instructions are very week. It made aligning the batteries the first time a challenge. No instructions on how to store the rechargeable batteries.

the light is very bright and the diffuser gives a nice broad even light. the on/ off switch does not function properly and has to be actuated multiple times to make proper contact.

Comments about Underwater Kinetics "Light Cannon" HID Dive Light with Pistol Grip:

You can tell if anyone on the night dive has this light. It provides more and a brighter light than any other dive light I have seen. I have friends who are cave divers and their high intensity lights cannot hold a candle to this light. Use the included defusers and it is perfect for photography. It holds 8 - C batteries and therefore is not any heavier than most "big" lights. I put new batteries in the start of a dive season (April) and have to replace them by August.
