SAMUEL F It mean that there are specifically designed pocket that you can put "shot" weight in, and they have a mechanism so that can be ditched in an emergency. You use these instead of or in addition to a weight belt. There's also trim pockets on most BCDs now that you can add up to 5# each pocket to help you neutral out left to right, and head up head down. These are non-ditchable so be cautious on the percentage not amount of weight you put in there.
