This is the best wrist compass and a wrist compass is more accurate than a console as you can hold it in a repeatable position. When looking at a compass on a console it is difficult to impossible to hold it in the same orientation every time even the height that you mount the cylinder will affect the result as you have more or less hose so the console will sit at a slightly differant angle this means you will read a differing heading almost everytime. But with a wrist compass it you have the compass on your Left arm and take bearings when holding your right elbow you will be able to replicate the same possition every time.

I love the compass, it is easy to read in all conditions and isn't "picky" about being exactly level.I absolutely HATE the band though... Instead of using a buckle, it uses a fiddly "poke through the holes" setup which is REALLY hard to do one handed, especially when diving in cold weather and the rubber gets hard... this is one of the last things you put on, so basically you are pretty well geared up when putting it on, and fiddling with a band for 5 minutes to get it on is about the LAST thing I want to be doing.I am past the time where I can return it, so I am going to keep it until I can find a better band and then sell it [...].

Great compass with a lousy band

Comments about Aqualung Suunto SK7 Wrist Compass:

Love this compass. Replaced my Ikelite compass with this one. Very easy to read and use, and the fact that it doesn't have to be perfectly level to read accurately is great. Really like the 5 degree increments instead of the usual 10 degree on other compasses. Nothing bad to say about the compass, rate it a 5 star. However...the wrist band is another issue. It's way too long, and the clasping mechanism is difficult to use. Fortunately, the boot that holds the compass is not fused with the band so the band can be removed and replaced with another. Find it a bummer that I have to spend another $15-$20 for a different band. How hard can it be to just change the design of the band to a normal buckle setup with the ability to trim it to whatever length you want? Guess they have their reasons, but for me, the band is a poor design, so gave the overall rating 4 stars.

Very nice compass. It has a greater tilt angle making it more useful when not traveling completely horizontal.

Wrist mount is a better option then the console mount which I dislike. But I find it to be bulky. My entire family & friends use the retractable version..Its their best set up...
