Jim H I am considering this item. I am debating over the band. Rubber or stainless steel. I leaning towards stainless steel. What if I buy it and want to exchange it for rubber band? Is that going to be a problem?
SANTINO R I would go with the rubber wrist band. You can adjust the length depending on which wetsuit your wearing on different dives easily. I like the stainless steel but I'm always having to adjust the band due to dive conditions and it is time consuming.
DARRYL H When purchasing this watch, it came with BOTH the rubber and metal. I'd double-check with LeisurePro's customer service, but I just checked my box, and I received BOTH the metal and rubber bands. Rubber is better for diving (although it wears out faster); the metal band looks better for wearing it socially.
JOEL K I bought 2 Suunto D6's. I ordered the rubber band for my wife and the stainless steel for myself. There are pros and cons to both.
The steel band is very solid with a sturdy clasp. I have no fear of losing it.
The only dowside is once you set the band size to fit your wrist it is not that convenient to change, so switching between warm water dives and wetsuit dives is a little issue.
The rubber band is fully adjustable. I am not too sure about the durabilty of it though. The box shipped with an extra replacement band, so that tells me they have an issue with breakage.
The computer bodies are the same so I am sure you could put whatever band you want on it. See if you can get a rubber replacement band shipped so you have both.
I highly recommend this dive computer. I have had them for 2 years now and they work great.
JB B Not to worry. The watch comes with the steel band but a rubber band is included in the box. I have not tried to swap them out yet, but I expect to do so at some point - the steel band does not have an "extender" to enable when wearing a full-length wetsuit. BTW the cable to upload data to your computer is a separate item. Very cool, though. And I've really enjoyed the watch.

The steel band computer also comes with the rubber straps. You need a torx 6 bit to remove the screws in order to change the strap. It takes 2 or 3 minutes.
However, if I had to do it over, I'd skip the metal band. It's a huge hassle if you end up wanting to dive in a number of locations that would require different thickness wetsuits. Also, if you size the band to fit properly on your wrist without a wetsuit, it won't fit properly if you use a full length wetsuit.
The metal band also scratches extremely easily. Mine looks pretty beat up after just a couple months of use
