richard v does it turn off automatically, it not how do you turn it off to save the battery.?
Frank L It has a power save feature, and does turn off after a short time. There is no manual off button.
Dan H Is this this dive computer too advanced for a new diver? I live in Wisconsin, does it tolerate cold water? Thanks ahead of time for the help.
LESLIE H It is perfect for any diver at any level. When it touches the water, it activates. it provides a readout that tells you how many minutes you have at your depth, and how many minutes you have with your air remaining. I don't dive cold water, but I'm sure it works just fine. Highly recommended.
KEITH L Hi Dan,this was my first dive computer.It's been very reliable and to answer your question I dive New England in cold water(down to 48 degrees) and never had a problem.The computer is a little complicated in my opinion,I constantly have to refer back to the manual.My dive buddy's always seem to make sense of theirs where sometimes I have trouble with this one.
A lot of the problem is it is capable of more than I will ever use it for.
Another thing is I see they offer an online class for it which would be very helpful,I hope this helps a little with your decision.

JOHN K It's not very complicated to use, once you get used to the menu and the sequence of button presses. I can't speak to using it in cold water, as I've always used it in warm conditions, and I'm not a cold-water diver.
TODD D I also live in WI and I was a new diver when I got this in 2007 it has worked great ever sense I love it.. Very easy to use!! You really dont have to do anything just jump in and go diving.. It beeps to let you know stuff & easy to hear.

LeisurePro S Yes, the battery on the Suunto is user-replaceable. The replacement battery can be found here.
Shopper Do these computers change from imperial to metric format?
LeisurePro S Yes, units are set by the user and can be switched at any time.
Shopper Does SuuntoCobra show repetitive dive calculations? Does SuuntoCobra calculate air remaining and bottom time?
LeisurePro S Yes, will provide repetitive dive information and well as air remaining and bottom time.
Shopper When disconnected can the computer be rinsed, with out flooding it?
LeisurePro S The quick disconnect does have a moisture valve that prevents water from getting into the internal components when connected to a wet hose or when rinsed, but I wouldn't recommend submerging it.
Shopper What is the quick disconnect and why are some computers offered without it?
LeisurePro S The quick disconnect allows you to disconnect the console from the hose so that you can look through your dive history/functions at the surface without having it attached to your whole dangling regulator system. It is just a nice additioanl feature that not all console computers have.
Shopper Can an analog air gauge be back mounted on this particular model?
Shopper If I buy this kit with the combined compass, do I get the "cap" or whatever it is called that you remove to attach the compass to the computer?

SHANNON A Two words describes this "LOVE IT"! Be sure to get the quick disconnect. I like how it accommodates Air and Nitrox because you can't always get Nitrox and I personally prefer to use my own equipment - I know that it's been taken care of, maintained regularly, and just plain how it works.

It is the only air-integrated dive computer with air, Nitrox, and gauge modes complete with profile memory on the market. In addition to the extensive information provided by the Vyper, the Cobra displays cylinder pressure and estimated remaining air time. The air-consumption of a dive is stored as a used-pressure value in the logbook memory for future reference. Cobra offers the new Suunto Reduced Gradient Bubble Model (RGBM), which is a unique algorithm for predicting both dissolved and free gas in the blood and tissues of divers. The superior SK-7 features an exceptional tilt potential of +/- 30 degrees, which is 2-3 times larger than in conventional diving compasses, easy-to-read numerals on a phosphorescent compass card and a large side-reading window. The firm-grip bezel with a ratchetat every fifth degree is especially designed to prevent sand and dirt contamination, thus allowing smooth turning in all conditions. With Suunto's Quick Disconnect you can connect the Cobra Computer Console to theregulator pressure port with only one quick and easy move. Disconnecting is justas simple. The Quick Release is installed between the Computer and the hose or between the hose and regulator first stage. This allows you to store the dive instruments in a safe place, independently from the cylinder and download the dive information easily in-between several dives. It is fast and reliable.
