Shopper what is the size for a 4 ' 4" tall boy (8 years old)?

MARTA K That depends on the build. If small frame I would go with 7-8, but a larger frame or taker, I would go for 9-10 Hope this helps

Jennifer R If you bought the size 7/8 or 9/10 would you mind posting the measurements of the suit from the neck to the crotch? I have called Leisure Pro and Speedo but this information is not available. I am looking to buy a suit for my son and duaghter who are both tall for their ages. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

JAMES P Jennifer, The neck to crotch mesurement on the suit is exactly 12" my gramdson is average height 32" tall good build and the suit fits him very slightly lose. Hope this helps you? Jim

M H hi. we received our order. my 6 yr daughter and I have been enjoying testing our wetsuits out in our pool. it's chlorinated but treated with UV? the first day we were in the pool snorkeling for two hours and that night, she woke up with rashes on her body (where the wetsuit touches). she was wearing a bathing suit shirt and shorts so she had something under. the itchiness went down and we went again the next day and same thing happened. have you had problems with the suit before?

JOSE L we heven't had problems with the suit. My kid uses it every saturday for his swimming lessons and at home on a regular basis since we bought it a few months ago 9around march). He sometimes uses a thermal shirt under the suit to protect against the sun but he also has used it alone and he hasn't had problems or alergic reactions or rash.

MARTA K Hi, my daughter has been using the suit for about 2 years now, with a swimsuit underneath and we did not encounter an issue that you describe. She did get a rash a couple of times but it was because of high chlorine in the pool water - she was wearing the suit only on one of those occasions. Hope this helps.

ESPERANZA C We never had problems and my son has very sensitive skin and suffers from excema. The suit has not caused skin irritation.

DANIEL M I have two children using these suits and we've never had a similar problem, but clearly your daughter is having a reaction to the suit. You should stop using it immediately.

Frank L She may be allergic to latex, or have a sensitivity to neoprene. Follow up with her Doctor, but I would recommend not using the suit anymore.

RICHARD C No, I had the wetsuits on all three of our grandkids this past month while we were in Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands. Both in the pool and in the ocean, no problems. But, the pool was a salt water pool.

MOSES N I think you should go with the 7/8 because you don't want it to be too loose. The material is stretchy so she should be able to wear it when she is 9/10 and maybe older.

RUNE S I think 7/8, the suit is best when it is thight to the body, since she is on the skinny side I think this is the best choice.

PAIGE M M Hello, My daughter is currently wearing the 7/8. She is 51" and weighs 51 pounds (very skinny!). It is loose in the body but doesn't have a lot of extra length. She wore the 6/6X until a month ago! She complained that it was getting too short and pulled on her shoulders, but it was not tight. If they are too loose they don't keep the kids warm at all! I hope this helps you decide. Basically, if you want your child it wear it next year you need to get the larger size, but this year she may not be very warm in the suit. Good luck!

JULIA K My daughter is 9 1/2 and in the 50th % in height and weight. the 9/10 is perfect for her. My son, also 9 1/2 is in the 15th % in weight and 95th % in height. The suit is still roomy on him. He doesn't like his suit right now because sand gets between the suit and his body and "scratches" him. My daughter used her suit over the Memorial Day weekend when we were camping at the ocean. She wore hers everyday. She was very comfortable in the water that was too cold for others who didn't have a thermal suit. I hope this helps.

ESPERANZA C My son has the 7/8 now and he is turning 9 tomorrow and is around the same size. I am getting the 9/10 - the one we have is starting to bother him in the crotch area.

Shopper is this a wet suit and how thick is it?

ESPERANZA C No. This is not a wetsuit. It's just a full suit that has some thickness though not a lot. I had a wetsuit shortie for my son before this one and that was way better for keeping him warm in the cold water. If you're looking for warmth, this is not really the suit you want.

ERIC F Yes, it is definitely a wet suit and 2 - 2.5 mm thick. We had our 2 & 3 year old wearing them in Lake Huron with 65 - 70 degree water temp and they were conmfortable up to about 45 minutes of water time. After that, I would suggest out of water time for 30 minutes.

MARTA K This is a wet suit and it's about a quarter inch thick. My daughter uses it for her diving class. Before she used to get very cold and now she can go through a two hour workout in water and she is ok.

MARK G I bought a blue for my 3 year old and am very happy with it. It provides some buoyancy and seems to keep him warmer longer. It is basically a 3-2mm shorty wetsuit.

PAIGE M M There really aren't a lot of good choices fr suits that kids can wear while learning to swim. They can't cause too much bouyancy, or they don't learn to float by themselves or swim properly. This suit worked well and held up well with a lot of wear.

we tested this suit in the pool and my kid had an allergic reaction. it could be because we didnt rinse it before wearing. but she definitely got rashes everywhere the suit touched. we're giving it a few days rest and will test again to see if it's just a reaction from left over chemical dyes, etc.
i asked Leisurepro if they've had any complaints about it and the response i got was "We cant answer this question because our suit has only been used in the ocean." i can't believe no one else out there has tried this suit on their kids in the pool where they learn to swim?
anyone else have the same problem?

We ordered this for my 1 year old who is a little tall for her age. She generally wears all 2T size with the occasional 2T item running too small. I thought I'd go with a 2T because I wanted it to be snug enough to keep the water from running in and defeating the purpose of wearing a thermal suit. The order arrived so quickly. I honestly felt like i had just clicked submit payment and it was waiting on my porch! Unfortunately, the 2T size was crazy small. This suit has no give for a child with a longer torso. So, if you have taller child be sure to order at least one size larger. I ended up purchasing the 3T size. However, I still feel she could use a little larger size. overall, the suit is comfy and well made. It keeps her warm in cool waters.
