Questions about this item:
SEAN S I am 5'8" , 160 lbs with 33" waist and 40" chest. I will probably be wearing a 3 mil wetsuit, if any at all. What size would you recommend?
ROLLIN E Congrats on the good physique! Most divers I've seen lately seem to have a waist measurements larger than chest measurements! I faced a similar situation, in that I was between xl and xxl, with a chest much larger than waist. I went with the xxl. The BC allows the waist strap to be shortened, and the cummerbund can be tucked in. My suggestion is that you get the large, and try it on with your wet suit. Its easier to pull tighter, but once the strap limits are reached there is not much that can be done. Leisure Pro allows for exchange if the size is off. But be aware that because of the box size shipping this back can be expensive! I returned a Ladyhawk and it set me back about $60.
CHRIS M Medium. I am 5'10" 175lbs. 43" chest. Wearing a Lg. Same 33" waist
PHILIPPE T I am 5'11", 190 lbs and bought a size L, I can wear anything from a 3 to 6 wetsuit. It is really comfortable.
SCOTT B I'm 6'2" and weigh 205lbs and I almost bought a large. My waist is 33" and my chest is 43" and a medium fits me perfect! I dive all summer without any wetsuit and during the winter months, I'll wear a 5mm and I still have plenty of room for adjustment. If I were you, considering your measurements (waist and chest) are similar to mine, I'd purchase a medium.
Shopper I'm 5'8" and 160lbs with a 33 waist 37 chest. Should I go with a Medium?
THOMAS S I am also 5'8" and weight about 165. A medium fits me well. If you bye make sure you balance weights evenly between the side pockets and the back to ensure proper balance, which is really important when you are at the surface.
BRETT B I'm 6'2" with the same measurements, the medium is perfect.
ADEN S Go with a large. Just in case you'd gain weight or wear thick neoprene (7mm, farmer John, etc.), you'll have some wiggle room.
ROBERT B I would. The size chart is accurate.
ZACKARY N We are the same build and the medium fits great. I love the knight hawk.
Matthew T Im 5'8 and weigh 182 with a 40" chest. Would i go with a M?
SCOTT M I am 6' and about 190 lbs, and the Medium works fine for me.
Hope that helps!
RONALD C Hi, I'm 6? tall, 41? chest and weight 200lbs. I got the large and it fits me fine. Sounds like the medium might be best for you.
PATRICK V Matt -
I am 5'11 with a 44 and weigh 205. I went with the large. I had the medium when I was your build - worked fine as long as I didn't try to put a 2 piece winter suit under it.
NATHANIEL D Your right on the cusp. If you are looking to use this BC for frequent travel and size and weight are a concern, than a M would work. But if you are planning on using this BC for a primary unit, I would go with the large.
Shopper How well did it work? Were you happy with it?
BRETT B I have had it for a few years now and love it, go for it.
JACK A I am biased, as I have all Scubapro equipment. I love this BC! The back floatation is easy and does not constrain my chest.. Easy to use and comfortable.
DEAN K After one year of use, very disappointed in fit and quality. My previous BCD lat me 7 years and many dive.
I'm divemaster since 2004 with over 800 dives
LEO I While these are subjective questions, overall this BCD works very well for me and I am quite pleased with it. It has plenty of storage space (net pockets), and has been very reliable holding the tank in its position. I've never had a tank slip with this BCD. My Knighthawk has registered 300 dives so far (6 years as of 2012) without any problems or any need for repair.
THOMAS S Love it! I'm 160 lbs and brought a medium Knighthawk. It works ertremely well. Make sure you balance the weights between the back (not releasable) and the side pockets. First time I tried it I put all weights in the sides and could not keep it from tipping my face into the water at the surface!
brandon w will this bc work for a duel tanks?
RONALD C I like the BC very much. Had it since 2008. In only has 1 strap in the back to go around 1 tank. Unless there is some kind of mod you can get to secure 2 tanks to it.
LEONIT S Brandon, unfortunately I have no answer to your question as we use it with a single tank.
Shopper im 5 6 and a half feet tall with a 29/30 inch waist and around 140 pounds i was thinking medium does that ound about right?
BRIAN K Hey There, I bought this BCD a while back and they do run a bit big. You should be fine with a medium. I wear an XL and I am 6'4" and 265lbs. Hope that helps. Keep Diving!
DAVID S sounds about right. but consider what thickness maximum you will wear under it. check their size chart. small may be too yight. better off a little larger as you can adjust it down.
THOMAS S I'm 5 ft 8, weigh 165 lbs and wear a medium. It's a little bit tight on me. Medium sounds right for you, especially if you gain 5 or 10 lbs over the life of the BC. I think a small would be too small for you.
PS The nighthawk is a great BC, just make sure to balance your weights between the back and the side release pockets.
RUBEN M Yes medium will fit you
DIANN R Yes, I am 6 ft and 140 lbs with 29 in waist-I ordered a M and am satisfed-
TOM S I,m 5'7" 170lbs. 42" chest and medium is perfect Don't forget back inflation BC is different then the ones you get at resorts and takes a little practice to get use to.
Hope this helps
Shopper will this bc work for a dual tank set up?
THOMAS C I cant tell you about a dual tank setup as I have used mine for a alu 80. The bcc is quality and I have been satisfied
ALEXANDER M Nope, just single tank.
GABRIEL R This BC is set up for a single tanks out of the box. The manual makes reference to a double tank setup, but I wouldn't bet my life on it. If one large cylinder is not enough, I'd recommend going with a fully customizable backplate, so you can upgrade the air bladder to provide the lift you require.
NATHANIEL D This BC has more than enough lift to use for dual tanks, but finding a good setup is tricky. It can be used with an OMS beaver tail system to use for sidemount diving. As a Tec diver, I would not recommend this BC if your primary goal is to use dual tanks, or add more than one pony. the Scuba Pro Tek series are great BC's and work much better for that, but if your use is primarily recreational, with an occasional sidemount or pony dive this is one of the best BC's available.
A.J. V I am 6'0, 200 lbs with a 34" waist and 42" chest...what size would be best? A large?
KIMBERLY K A large should fit you fine. My husband has a XL but he is little bigger than you. The knighthawk has the ability to expand if you need it to. My husband loves his knighthawk and I am on my second ladyhawk.
JAMES S It is always best to try on the BC for comfort...your weight and size should be fine for Large or Xtra Large BC, but you want the straps and overall size to fit your frame. The Bladder is large enough for recreational dives and unless you are doing technical dives or diving with drysuits and high amounts of weight like what we used during our Sheriff Dive Recovery call outs, the standard bladder will be fine. Technical diving might require a larger bladder for lifting large weights or a recovered victim.
I love the Scuba Pro Knighthawk and I would buy it again!
Jim Stephan Rochester Mn.
RICHARD O I am 5'-10", 235 lbs, waist 34", 42" chest, and I have a large. Been extermely happy with this BCD too!
ANDREW D Hi AJ.
I have this BC in a large. I'm 6'1", 200lbs with a 35 waist and it fits great. Definitely the right size for you.
If you end up picking this up, enjoy. I've had mine for a couple years now and love it. Great fit, comfortable, really thought out features.
-andrew
DOUGLAS M I think you would be better of with an extra large. This BC has alot of adjustment in the straps. By the time you throw on a thick neoprene wet
suit or a dry suit, you may need the extra room provided by the extra large.
LORI S Go with the X-large. I have a 54 chest and a 38 waist and weigh 285. You will be happy with this BC. This BC is the closest BC to a technical BC you can get. For an avid diver, that does not want to do tech diving. This is the way to go. The lift is incredible. Use short bursts of air. You will be very amazed. The rise you get is wonderful. Also the BC has 3 ways to deflate. the valve above the left shoulder. Keeps you from sticking your hose way high up. A very nice feature.......B.J. Bobby...Master Scuba Diver.
MITCH K Im 5"10" 190lbs, 36 waist. 44 chest. i wear a medium. I had a large but it was too big. hope this helps
JAMES N Yes. I have roughly the same chest size and the the large fits nicely.
Maurice M i am 6' 3' waist 39' chest 45' weight 210 pounds what size would you recommend.?
KIMBERLY K I purchased this BC for my husband and he is about your size and he wears an XL
GABRIEL R L with a thin wetsuit, XL with a thick suit or a drysuit. Remember, with the perfect fit guarantee, if it dosen't fit, Leisurepro covers the shipping there and back.
MIKE H Maurice
Go with at least an XL. If you are diving wth a 7mm or dry suit go wth the 2XL
JACK A Hi Maurice---
I LOVE my BC, but I am 5'7 and a lot smaller than you!!
So, my advice--call and ask the Dive guys at LeisurePro directly.
I have bought from them for several years with NO problems--awesome service and always willing to help. I have sent back a number of items due to fit issues, and THEY resolved the problems!
Sorry I can't be of more help :(
DOUGLAS M Maurice,
I am pretty close to your size. I am 6'2'' with a 36 inch waste ,a 48 inch chest and weigh 220 lbs. I use a Scubapro Knighthawk XL and it fits me just fine. This BC has plenty of adjustment in the waste strap and cumberbund as well as the shoulder straps. The XL should just about fit you perfectly.
Shopper What is the lift capacity of this BC?
LeisurePro S The small has a lift capacity of 34 pounds, the rest of the sizes have a lift capacity of 46 pounds.
Shopper Does it have a carry handle?
LeisurePro S Yes, the Knighthawk has a backpack carry handle.
Shopper I am 6' 1" and weight 235, what size would you recommend?
LeisurePro S I would recommend the xlarge.
Shopper I am 6' 1 and weight around 215. What size would you recommend?
LeisurePro S I would recommend an XL.
Shopper I am a recreational diver and have never used a back inflated BCD before. Is there anything special about this or is it just a matter of taste?
NATHANIEL D If you will be using a dry suit at any point in time during your diving career, a back inflate BC is the best option.
LeisurePro S For recreation, it is mostly a matter of taste. Some people say a back inflated BCD feels less cumbersome in the water and reduces claustrophobia, but others get annoyed and say that back inflation pushes you face forward into the water when you are floating at the surface.
Shopper How many tank straps?
LeisurePro S This has a single tank strap.
Shopper I am 5'11" 225 lbs., 38" waist, 44" chest--what size would you recommend?
LeisurePro S I would recommend the XL.
Shopper I'm 5'10", 170 lbs, normal body type. Would a meidum be correct? What's the lift capacity of a medium?
LeisurePro S Yes, I would recommend the medium. It has 46 pounds of lift.
Shopper What is the "Air 2" everyone is talking about?
LeisurePro S The Air2 is an octopus designed by Scubapro-- it attaches to your BCD's inflator hose and eliminates the extra dangling hose of a traditional octopus. It usually is an accessory that has to be purchased seperatly. Here is the link so you can take a look.
Shopper Does either the Ladyhawk or the Knighthawk have a chest strap?
LeisurePro S Both the Ladyhawk and Knighthawk have sternum straps, but the strap on the Ladyhawk is positioned higher to fit a women's form.
Shopper What kind of material is the bladder made of?
LeisurePro S The bladder is made from 1000 denier nylon.
Shopper What size should I need? I'm 6'5, 38 waist, 48 chest and 275 pounds.
LeisurePro S I would recommend the 2XL.
Shopper What is the weight of this bcd?
LeisurePro S This BCD has a shipping weight of 8.85 pounds.
Shopper My son is 5'11, 34 waist, 38 chest, and under 150 lbs. Except for his height, he fits the small profile. He's 13 and will probably get taller. Which should I buy -the Small or Medium?
LeisurePro S If he's below 135 pounds, I would go with the small. Otherwise, I think he will be able to get away with the medium until he grows into it more fully.
Shopper Does this include an air 2?
LeisurePro S No, it can be purchased separately here. If you leave a note in the comments section of the checkout procedure, we can assemble it for you before shipping.
Shopper Is the air 2 option avalible through liesure pro?
LeisurePro S Yes. Please call our sales department and they can fix that order for you.
Shopper What hard weights work best for the pockets? and do you guys have a inflator hose?
LeisurePro S For hard weights use these (AQULWC) or soft (AQULWS) . For an inflator hose sku: AQULPH in 27" most likely.
