Big enough to hold enough gear for any shoot but small enough to use as a carry on. I can feel safe about flying with my expensive gear without the fear that the airlines will loose my livelihood. I can re-buy clothes if the airline looses my bag, but I would be screwed if I showed up with out my gear. I have seen a lot about Pelican and their design before I made this purchase, and I'm glad I spent the money.

What's not to like about this case. Easy rolling, carry it on the plane, use it like a chair while in line, waterproof, complete protection for the stuff inside.
I got 1 first for the underwater camera. My wife liked it so much I had to get her 1!

Very durable and the padded pockets are easily rearranged to accomodate photo equipment and are much easier to use than the pick and pluck foam. The durability comes at a price and that is the empty weight of the case. You will only be able to put in 8-10 lbs of equipment and you will run over the allowance of many airlines. The case is also physically to big for some airlines such as Virgin Blue.
