Questions about this item:
Shopper Does it come with a rubber/plastic shoe/casing ?
MERRY P So sorry for the delay in answering!
No, it doesn't come with a boot, but we clip ours to a D-ring. After borrowing this model SPG from my husband for awhile, I decided I needed to have one of my own. It's so easy to read - wouldn't have anything else.
HEATHER B no, it does not.
SIMON M Yes, I believe you will have to install the housing yourself which is very straight forward.
JOHN C Yes, As noted in the "What's in the box" heading.
EDWARD N I believe I purchased a boot separately. I think OMS does sell one--and I may have such a boot but couldn't figure out how to use it. My boot was made by some other company, and while the gauge is loose inside it, that doesn't seem to cause any problems.
The standard procedure for divers in my region--Great Lakes, particularly Lake Erie--is to use it without a boot, and rig up a clip on it. I think it's part of the DIR B.S....you wear it on the bottom left-hand side of your BC, and unclip it to look at it. That always looked cumbersome to me, and being an avid gauge watcher have it positioned toward my chest.
Here's some advice, too--I like this gauge a lot. I dive frequently, and it does seem to loosen up eventually and start to leak. All you have to do is replace a small O-ring where it enters the hose, and it's good to go. A dive shop technician told me this is a common--and, as I say, easily corrected--problem with the OMS PSI gauge.
HUNTER A Mine did. Plastic, I think. I left it off though.
doug f What are the dimensions of the gauge (diameter and thickness)?
RICHARD W A diameter of 52 mm is 2 inches. I would estimate they are 7/8" thick. I believe I own 6 of the smaller diameter which I use for recreational, cave, and sidemount cave. I own one large one. These are for the visually impaired I think. Heavy brass takes a beating, but it is in fact heavy.
-andy
JOHN T Standard large gauge type
PETER J With the rubber boot it is 2 and 1/4 inches diameter by 1 and 1/8 inches thick. Roughly 2 inches by 1 inch without the rubber cover
JOHN C I just measured mine, and surprisingly, it's 52mm.
OK, so with the boot, its 2.25 inches diameter by 1.25 inches thick.
ROEE K 2.3" diameter X 1.2" thickness. That's including the protective rubber boot that wraps around the brass housing.
HUNTER A I dont have it in front of me but they def are NOT the thin streamlined versions. That comes with a pros and cons.
Pros: they feel much more durable than the thin versions. They also feel better built.
Cons: they're bigger. Not quite an inch thick but somewhere around there. They are also considerably heavier.
I was using two on my rebreather and never had a problem with either. To cut size and wait, I moved away from them. I felt they were kind large for a bailout/stage bottle but really they would be fine. I used mine without a boot too and they were strong enough to hold up.
Shopper Does it come with a rubber hose or a braided hose?
PAUL W I don't think a hose was included.
MARK D When purchased 4 years ago came with rubber hose and plastic cover.
AUDREY A The one I bought did not come with one. Which was good for myself. As it is under high pressure I would want it to be proper length, pressure rating and new.
NEAL L The 32" hose is rubber-coated. ALL HP hoses have an interior gas-tight liner, covered by a stainless steel reinforcing layer (provided the structural integrity to hold the pressure) and then, as with this one, an outer protective rubber layer. I dive a lot - 125 - 150 tanks/year, and this is not showing unusual wear.
JOHN T Standard comes with a Hp rubber not beaded hose
EDWARD B Great gauge...I own several of them. It comes with the 32" black HP hose. Depending on your gear confirgurattion you may find that you need a different lenth hose.
Alberto A Is the dial face phosphorescent?
ANNA W No, it is not. But with a min. amount of light it is easy to see even on a night dive. Only gauges with black background are phosphorescent.
STEVE P Yes. Simply shine your light on on it for a few seconds and the face will provide bright, green glow that is very visible at night. The gauge is compact, sturdy and it swivels. I've made 25 - 30 dives with it and am glad I bought it.
MATTHEW F Yes it is Alberto! It is easily readable in complete darkness. I've used it as a backup SPG on night dives and in caves with no issues.
NEAL L Ido not think it is; I usually shine my torch at it to look at it at night
JOHN S No, it is not phosphorescent.
Shopper Can I install a 90 degree nuckle at the base of the gague? Will the 32 inch hose fit into the 90 degree nuckle and the gague fit into the 90 degree nuckle?
RICHARD W You would never want to attach additional failure points on your high pressure gauge if used for scuba. Avoid on low pressure when possible.
Having said that: yes, if you have a 90 degree high pressure fitting you can attach it.
JOHN C The gauge threads into a connector at the end of the hose. It comes delivered as 2 pieces. As long as the threads match. It should not be a problem.
WILLIAM D not sure; but with the the correct bolt yes!
JOHN T Remember. Lp, hp. Gauge is hp. Make sure you have the right thread. And the angle can accommodate the swivel insert that sits between gauge and hose (in your model between 90 degree and hose). All that said it adds another place for failure due to needing a good seal between 90 and gauge with o ring seal for hp not just thread vinyl tape. If you have that worked out you got it licked. I would not do it. There have to be other ways to get the angle you need without messing with the hp seals. Remember it's your life line to real time pressure. ( my theory eliminate it with a transmitter rather than reconfig a straight hose ). Hope this helps. Good luck
Shopper Are these gauges available in bar?
LeisurePro S Yes, here is the same gauge in BAR.
Shopper Is this pressure gauge O2 compatible
HUNTER A Yup - I've used it on the o2 side of my rebreather.
LeisurePro S Yes. All OMS pressure gauges are oxygen clean.
Shopper Why Did You Choose This?
DIGITAL B replacement part. tough casing is worth the money.
HARRY C good price/quality
BRIAN P other brands new SPGs consistently read +/- off by 300+ psi.
NEAL L Pressure gauge died and replaced with this
